    Cheap plastic bath ?

Normally has wooden board stuck to the bottom for rigidity.

    Doesn't sound right though

Sounds like the feet have not been adjusted properly. Try screwing them down more.

Bath panel all sealed but just tested again and there's no noise.... could it be the heat from the shower and fibreglass contracting??

When I moved into my current house (just to keep clear that it wasn't my bodge) it was a similar situation although not as bad. What is was, was the feet not being screwed down properly. So what was happening was the bath was riding up and down on the feet thread when walking over that section of bath and due to the silicon seal along the top it dragged it back up again.

Hence my previous post suggesting you take a look at the feet.

I occasionally had exactly this with mine before I redid the silicone. There'll always be a bit of movement with a "plastic" bath even if all of the the feet are secured and level. It'll be just the edge of the bath rubbing against the wall or underside of the tiles at one end.

Agreed, but did you watch the video? Seemed a bit excessive to be the normal amount of movement, but I am happy to be corrected.

Had a couple of ideal form baths delaminate . While still encapsulated the top acrylic wasn’t bonded to the fibreglass/base board

So got the plumber around and he looked under the bath panel. Feet are all secured with no movement. The bath also checked and no obvious movement.

The video i took this morning was just after a shower. When he came round later and i got into it there was no creaking whatsoever- it was proper solid.

He concluded that the bath is creaking because the fibreglass is getting hot during the shower.

Worried still but not sure what else to do. I asked if he thought the bath was faulty but he wasnt sure....

Andyhop- what did you do with yours??
  • Mine creaks a bit, but not as loudly as that. & Only sporadically. One of the struts that connects to the rim of the bath has bent a bit, so I figure it's that.
It may be caused my heat, who knows.
When it first happened I took the panel off & checked all feet, which were solid. I then propped two bricks under it at each end & in the middle (perfect height) & it still creaked so it's the bath creaking somehow rather than the fixings.
