that I was paying $79 a year. (Note to self-check all statements!) Anyhow-after a lovely phone call: am being refunded 3 years-$237. Sorry, American tablet so can't do pound sign ha ha. Am absolutely buzzing! Thanks Martin. Have cancelled prime now and will be very careful in future.

The only reason you would struggle with this is if your the type of person who just blindly clicks through the checkout without reading anything, which is obviously not a good thing.
It really isn't difficult to see where to click if you read what your clicking on before you do it, like you should be every time you buy something.
The other option is not to use Amazon anymore if you don't like the way they operate. I often find that other sites sell the same item for less anyway.
Try reading what he actually wrote.
He didn't say he was struggling with it. He said it was annoying.
I have prime now, but I remember that before I did I was also annoyed by the way that Amazon kept trying to get you to select the free prime trial by placing it as the default option in various places, and doing so inconsistently so that anyone not paying close attention might accidentally click for the trial.
However, when I did eventually decide to go for prime, it left me in no doubt whatsoever that I was signing up, and I had to confirm that that was what I intended before the signup went through.0 -
Its a bit like booking flights on Ryanair..........
Trying to find the minute 'No Thanks' button somewhere on the pages.0 -
This is my first post here so hope it's the right forum. I have been member of Amazon Prime for several years and have watched many films and DVD series. I have never ever had to pay a penny for any of these ... until two days ago. Then I had to pay £1.99 for the film 'Can You Ever Forgive Me' and tonight £3.49 for 'Sleep Furiously'. In trying to check on an Amazon forum if this is a new policy I found the replies quite aggressive, claiming that the questioners should have realised that not all content is free (but it has been to me for six years and I haven't been particularly selective) . But has anyone else noticed a recent change in the charging structure?0

Not really. Some content is free and some chargeable. Both clearly labelled before you watch.
Always been the case.0 -

I've also been an Amazon Prime member for several years and there has always been content which you have to pay to view - either by renting or purchasing outright - alongside the content which is free to view as part of the membership. The music and e-books provided as part of Amazon Prime work in the same way - unless you upgrade (and pay the extra money) for the Unlimited membership.0 -
I am currently an Amazon Prime user...and very happy with the service.
Disability means I cannot get out much, and Amazon Prime is well worth the subscription to me.
I have never known Amazon to be over pushy with Prime ….yes, when I was not a member I would get regular offers to sign up to a free trial, but never once did I get signed up against my will!
As for the movies.tv series/music...a good amount IS free but there has ALWAYS been content that needs to be paid for.....plenty of free stuff available, and I don't need 'Unlimited'...I think I have paid for a grand total of 2 films during my subscription.0 -

Its always been the case some content is free and some you pay for, I suspect youve just been lucky and not watched any that wasn't free.0 -
I too have had these problems it is a sneaky way Amazon operate I'm afraid, I claimed back £150 back for two years of Prime I did not know I had. Even now when I buy from Amazon I check every tick box before I purchase just to be sure and on occasions they still try it on and sign me up for Prime."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0
