No broadband providers except Virgin...

Hi folks
Hope someone can help.
I currently live in a house which only jas Virgin Media available and I think I'm paying way too much. I'd love to switch to Vodafone or Plusnet, but here's the kicker...
When I enter my postcode into all broadband checkers, only the even numbers in my street show as available (I live in an odd number). So effectively I can't switch.
Strangely this suggests the street is cabled but for some reason I can't receive those services. Why would this be? How can I rectify it? Who would I contact?
Would appreciate any help!

In the street where I live, the even numbers have a different postcode to the odd numbers.
Have you double checked your postcode on Royal mail's postcode finder?

I'm leaving PlusNet for Virgin (proving difficult, see my other posts). If you go to the supplier sites of interest, some have a map showing their customers that are near your house. In any event, all you need to do is ask them if they can deliver the service you require.0

Thanks for the reply.
We are all in the same postcode.
Vodafone thought the cabinet could be at capacity. But then that diesn't make sense, does it? Or am I being stupid?0 -
Try using the fibre checker for your address on the Openreach website here:
https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband
Then I would ask Vodafone to get in contact with Openreach to get some more information.0 -
<Vodafone thought the cabinet could be at capacity.>
Yes means the local cabinet is full until someone drops off .0 -
one side of the street will have a different cabinet to the other I would think0

You need to look up your full address as a postcode can cover a large area and is not accurate enough.
If you use the Openreach address checker, it will show if the FTTC cabinet is full (it is labelled VDSL on the results page)
Start here https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome# and go down to the address checker link at the bottom of the page and click that. At the next page click proceed to get to the address entry page.0
