Exactly this! My understanding is they are held in central warehouse rather than in store but definitely not made to measure

If the OP is wishing to return the panels because they no longer want them (due to being surplus), there is no right to refund for change of mind within consumer law - you are at the mercy of the T&C's of the seller. And Wickes are clearly saying there is no refund in this scenario for special order items (and they can define special order items to be whatever they wish, and if that means items which aren't held locally in tock then that is up to them).

If however the OP wishes to return the end panels because the reality of the installation didn't quite match the kitchen designed by Wickes, that is a different approach and one that Wickes shoudl consider. However, the fly in the ointment here is that the OP used their own independent fitter - it is quite possible that Wickes' own fitter would have used the panels...

The end panels are coloured to match the doors therefore not having white unit exposed. Where these panels should have gone is where the washer is, so you wouldn’t see the white anyway!

it also appears that it was decided they were surplus because where they were designed to go - to cover the white-facing of units - they wouldn't be required because a (dish/clothes) washer was being installed hiding those white facias.

Surplus by design or a very particular designer?

I'd eBay them.

Because the pipes had to rejigged to fit the units either side of 5he washer, the end panels couldn’t be fitted regardless as there was no room left

Had a meeting with the store manager and items were refunded.
