Wickes kitchens....return policy

Purchased a kitchen from Wickes after using their in house design service but used my own independent fitter. I have 2 end panels, still boxed, that weren’t used due to having to shift water pipes slightly.
I went to return and was told that they’re non returnable as they weren’t bought “off the shelf”. It irks me as they aren’t even opened and could easily be re sold
Is this actually legal? Apparently I was told non returnable at time of purchase but assumed I wouldn’t have anything left over anyway.

Yes, it's legal. They aren't obliged to take them back if their terms are that way.
Try selling them on eBay?0 -
Thanks for that. Will try and sweet talk the lady I dealt with as I need other bits, if not eBay it isLBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors

Their return policy excludes "Special Order Items" which is a bit vague, anything special about the end panels?
Unless it's noted on the paperwork as Special Order then I'd push for a refund. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
Tell Wickes that their kitchen design was not correct hence these panels were not needed. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

That would be fraudulent.
In any case, they would have signed off the design when placing the order, and so any "not correct" would be limited to "not as in the agreed design" since it's a bespoke item.(Although I could be wrong, I often am.)0 -
The end panels are coloured to match the doors therefore not having white unit exposed. Where these panels should have gone is where the washer is, so you wouldn’t see the white anyway!
Being a mere customer and not the designer, I never picked up on this or I would have not let them be included in the order.LBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors

Wickes messed up my kitchen design to the extent that the sink would not fit, so they were obliged to supply me with another far more expensive sink as that was the only size that would fit. They did not charge any extra or want the original unused sink returned. They also specified far more tape than was needed, so I obtained a refund on the surplus rolls.
As the OP had "to shift water pipes slightly" it suggests that somewhere along the line there could have been a fault in the design.
It is hardly fraudulent as the OP is not trying to defraud Wickes, just wanting a refund of unused itemsIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

Maybe Wickes were supplied incorrect information about the pipes.0 -
since it's a bespoke item.
Highly doubtful the end panel is bespoke, the kitchen is but made up of off the shelf items.
Wickes are saying they don't keep those end panels in their warehouse and had to order them special from the supplier or manufacturer.
The consumer rights question is can they impose such a term on a consumer if they don't highlight what is and isn't special order.
To me special order would be something they don't sell and they've gone out their way to find it but as above that's not what Wickes mean.
If the paperwork for the kitchen notes which items are special order then fair enough. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
