Asking somebody what height they are, and what car they fit in only gives a general idea. Their leg to body length ratio might be quite a lot different. You'd need to know their height from the seat when sitting.
The driving position and ergonomics of the car also make a massive difference.

The only way to be sure really is to test-drive.

Does anyone else find that a lot of cars have poor headroom? I am 6'4 which is tall but not freakishly tall. We are talking a few inches above average height.

it puts you in the top (you see what I did there) 0.9% for UK height (assuming, from your user name, you're a bloke).

    This.
Parent isn't tall but is long bodied and also has head space issues in some cars.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

A sun roof will always take up about 2" of headroom as the mechanism has to live somewhere.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.
