One has to ask what the point of a secure code is then if someone can just say they forgotten it and change it! I sometimes despair of bank security
You can't just reset it, you need certain details to be able to do so.
    .
Most of the details it asks for are those you've already used to make the payment. The exception for debit cards is the sort code, but this is on your debit card anyway and you must have got said debit card to have supplied the CVV number on the back.

Which was my point to 18CC (quoted) in my post.

I had a problem with this today. I was using a Starling debit card which I haven’t had that long and don’t recall ever having registered with MasterCard secure code in the first place. The MasterCard Securecard box came up on screen and stayed there for quite sometime without even offering the option to put in a password or code, and didn’t get a text from Starling with a code to use either, and then it took me back to the previous screen and said it could not verify my details with the bank. Made another two attempts and same happened again. Ended up having to use a Visa instead in the end.
