Unable to move broadband suppliers

Hi, i am wondering if anyone can provide any advice. I am currently getting broadband, phone and tv through Sky. As with most people, my deal with them has finished and the price has increased to a ridiculous amount a month.
I decided to look at other providers and found a good deal with BT. After spending forever talking to them, them telling me what speed i would get with them for broadband i agreed to go ahead with Bt. However once they began processing the order it would no longer allow me to process a fibre broadband offer and would only allow basic internet option. Bt explained that although i get fibre broadband through sky currently, there is no space in the broadband cabinet for my area so they cannot switch my line. Or they could but as there is a waiting list for the cabinet i may risk losing my fibre connection if someone in the list took my slot before mine was connected.
So effectively i am stuck with sky and paying their higher rate with no option to move and be guaranteed keeping my fibre broadband. Surely this is not allowed as is limiting my ability to choose a supplier? Has anyone faced similar issues and have any advice as openreach have yet to respond to my query about if they are expanding the cabinet. And more annoyingly looking like i will miss out on the good deal i had agreed with bt.
Thanks for any advice or thoughts.

You can change suppliers. BT will supply you with a service. You just can't get fibre due to cabinet space issues. If you want to keep the fibre service maybe drop the Sky TV to reduce costs.0

Haggle with SKY for a better deal...0

Move to NowTV.
Same broadband connection at sky.
May have a space?0 -
The FTTC lines in the cabinet are not owned or blocked by ISP so changing ISP would in all likely hood mean you would lose FTTC and go back to ADSL.
Changing ISP requires a free line in the cabinet and if the cabinet is full and with a waiting list too then your current line would be released onto the waiting list. And you would go to the back of that queue (assuming you use a ISP would puts orders onto the waiting list, not all do)
So really you need to haggle with Sky to get your costs down if you want FTTC.0
