Walking out of a restaurant

I left a trip advisor review as I think good service is a reasonable expectation when visiting a restaurant
Wasnt the one in Manchester was it?
We'd a similar experience there. 40 mins to get food, then they got the order wrong. Apparently it was our fault as i ordered my burger medium to well done so it takes a lot longer to cook.....0 -
I'd have had no qualms about leaving.
Bad service really irks me in a restaurant.0 -

Pretty harsh to assign fault to someone purely because they don't speak English. Or do you have some other input as to who is at fault?
What is harsh about the truth?
The OP clearly stated that they thought that there was a language barrier and that they didn't think that the person they spoke to understood what they said to them so no, I don't have any other input as to who was at fault.
As to casual racism in my first post.
Quite simply absolute rubbish written by you.
Nothing was stated by me regarding the ethnicity of the restaurant staff, simply the fact that they couldn't communicate with one of their customers.
If you see racism in that, I honestly pity you.
With that, I'm out.0 -
Have you registered your late order complaint to a manager or top-level management? I appreciate the way you left the restaurant, but I think it would great if you also bring your problem in the notice of their top-level or even middle-level management.
However, I strongly condemn this kind of behaviour by restaurants. It's totally unfair.0 -
Well, I think it is poor form from you to be honest... Language barrier or not, I don't think it would have been impossible to get across the question of "where is my food?" to the staff first of all!
Also, for all you know:
- The group could have been a pre-order and the staff were in the process of preparing their order when you walked in. (so you'd end up behind their order but, depending on how the service is carried out, could think that you have been jibbed off)
- The company could have been halfway through cooking your meal when you walked out (possible waste of food).
I find it very tricky when it comes to restaurants, because I personally wouldn't be assed about a 30 min delay (so I don't *get* why you were so upset here)! When I home cook a meal typically takes 20-30mins to make from raw ingredients anyway. So what is reasonable and unreasonable?!
THEORETICALLY, they *might* have scope to chase you for any losses incurred (not theft) but that would never ever happen! Any losses they incurred here will just be written off as waste. In other words, you'll be fine and the meals you ordered are probably in the bin
Next time ask them about the delay before waking out.
Ah Les, you do like to be contrary, but really, read the post before launching into one of your rants.0 -
Don't be daft, my comment doesn't demean real racism. If anything, it sheds a light on casual racism.
Stating a fact like communication was difficult because of a language barrier is no different to stating that communication was difficult because someone was deaf and the other person couldn't use sign language.
Do you think that is racist?0 -

The last time I left a Trip Adviser review after poor service the manager rang me and banned us from the restaurant....it's changed hands now!

Do you think that is racist?
If the other party can't speak English why is it racist?0
