I often use Uber in Mumbia..... the app tells you the cost and you pay the driver in Rupees.

I was out there last week using Uber and I do remember that the higher cost options were available. Similarly I was out in Amsterdam last night and was charged £34 foe what is normally an £8 journey as I booked a van not a car.

I will put info below but as I previously said the similar trip in the UK is the same price this cannot be right as all other trips were over 400% cheaper.

To be honest that looks about right. You can do an online quote on their site and for the journey took they quote PLN 874 - 1175 in an Uber X.

You paid twice the regular fair due to surge pricing so you're well within their quoted price range. All the charges thrown in at the end would have shown in your fare estimate before you started the journey.

Were you really in the cab 5 hours?

Google Maps says 3hr 47 for that journey, and I presume they'd have taken a break at some point so sounds reasonable depending on traffic etc.

You say this, but I'm adamant the fare shown was around half before the journey started, not all these charges were present that is my whole point, I wish I just took a screenshot at the start. A lot of this was lumped on at the end my phone also turned off mid journey and I had to recharge in the car.

To my knowledge the only way this could have happened is if the surge pricing came into effect between you doing the quote and booking the car. So timeline would look something like this:

11.15am. Request quote for the journey. Comes back as 737 PLN
11.16am surge pricing kicks in and doubles all the fares.
11.17am you book the car

At this point you would have got a warning saying that surge pricing is in effect and the fare is 2x normal. But you may have assumed that was factored in to your original quote and that the cost is still 737 PLN.

Final price is 1474 PLN which was twice their original quote but still correct from their perspective.

You'd have to be pretty unlucky for that series of events to happen but it is technically possible.

Yeah thanks , looks like I will have to accept it but It defeintely changed was never that much of a fair at start and I do use uber a lot maybe Is hould have been clever and took screenshots at start but was very disapointing to have to stump up that amount really.
