Issues with Argos returns?

Argos used to be great for returns, now they are a nightmare. Used to be if you didn't like something it could be returned, now has to be faulty and even then I had to jump through endless hoops.

I remember buying a Fitbit once, wouldn't connect to my watch so I took it back, Argos took me out the back and phoned Fitbit and I had to run through various troubleshooting tips which I had already done prior to returning it, I was stood in Argos for almost an hour. In the end fitbit told them to replace it, they didn't have any in stock so I got a refund.

I bought Bluetooth headphones yesterday, its crackle city with my phone, I need to take them back but I am dreading it. I did order and pay online although I collected, wondering would DSR apply?

So Argos have now scrapped their 30/16/whatever day money back guarantee and have reverted to what consumer law says? ;)

DSRs don't exist any more, but the same basic rights are enshrined in the CCRs 2013.

As you bought and paid online, and the shop was merely the delivery point then this was a Distance sale.

    Not according to their website:
    https://www.argos.co.uk/help/returns-and-refunds/
(although they've always had exceptions for some types of items)

I recently took a mobile back after 10 days as the wifi didnt always work - Used click and collect but paid in store. I was expecting a battle or for it to be exempt etc. I told them I had been on to Argos support who directed me to the manufacturer helpline and they subsequently said it must be faulty.

When the lady asked what I wanted to happen - I said to her " what are my options" and I got the feeling that returns were OK but not encouraged. I said I am worried that the next one will be the same if I got a replacement so please could I get a refund (I had already checked there were none in stock at the branch anyway!) The staff member had a 2 second conversation with someone in charge and they agreed. Make sure you take the card with you that you originally paid it on.

As I was expecting a problem, I checked stock online beforehand in the local area and took it back to a store that had none in stock so I knew they could not offer me a replacement (just happened to be one inside a Sainsburys that was open till late which was quite convenient)

    Hope this helps

The phone was returned in tip top, unmarked condition by the way so I was not pulling a fast one - just wanted a different brand which I bought from the same Argos 2 days later.

I'm going in tomorrow, stock checker says none in stock so that helps. I'm expecting a battle myself.
