Bank Transfer Scam

Hello,
Last month my partner and I purchased 2 games consoles and a graphics card from a seller we had found on Alibaba. The transaction was done via the sellers website not Alibaba.
Most communication was done via WhatsApp, they were very communicative until after I sent the bank transfer, after a few messages I got confirmation of the payment then later of shipping including a tracking number.
A parcel arrived, carrying this tracking number, which contained an iphone cable. The seller is now ignoring my messages, their website has completely changed and we cant find them on Alibaba anymore.
From what I can see we aren't covered under the APP Code as the payment was sent to China not within the UK.
My bank have said they cant help me and I need to speak with Actionfraud (which i plan to do next).
Is there anything else I can do? Is there any chance we will see our money again?
Thank you.

Almost certainly not.
Always avoid bank transfers unless you have absolute confidence in the seller or can afford to lose the money.0 -
Probably won't see the money, or the correct goods. I think it is a common scam. The seller can hide the scam behind a "picking" error but communication becomes so difficult that it is all but impossible to recover.
How much did you "save" by buying this way rather than from a UK retailer?0 -
As you mention the APP code does not apply to international funds transfers. You can contact your bank and ask if they can recall the money but you should expect them to refuse and/or this to fail if they actually attempt to.
There is very little you can do about this unfortunately and you should expect to have lost your money.urs sinserly,
