    Clearly the OP is not a native of this country. I wonder how much assistance (in the myriad forms we have here) he/she would receive in his/her own.

    Once upon a time, not so long ago, in a land right where we are standing there was no help for FTBs or any other kind of house buyer except bank/building society loans. Get some perspective and stop moaning about being handed £000s on a plate; something many of us can only dream of!
