Reclaim PPI - Advantage Finance

Hi Guys,

I'm hoping someone can offer a bit of help...

As the deadline for PPI is fast approching I want to get things right before I run out of time, as titled I want to see if I can claim PPI from Adavantge Finance which was for car finance.

I can't quite remember which year but wouldve been either 2008/2009, I have moved house twice since then and have no paperwork for it...the only thing I have is an old email from when the finance was settled with an account number on it.

I did try to approch 2 claims compnies (I know I shouldnt but I thought as it was so close to the deadline something wouldve been better than nothing) but they dont seem to deal with Advantage.

I belive I have to send them an SAR + £10, then put then complaint forward once I have that info...

If I'm right I was hoping for some guidence, I just dont really know how to go about this and dont want to run out of time.

Can anyone give me some pointers, appriciate any help, thank you

But you have no paperwork to prove any miss sale.
After 10 years or so, its unlikely they have any either.
    Just ring and ask them

You dont get it back just because you paid it.

What is the reason you want to complain about.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

It was discussing with my partner that prompted me to raise the question...

At the time i needed a car for work, I had a run of cheap cars that were unreliable due to my finances' not being the best, they were aware of this as I told them I was struggling to find a lender, to which there response was they would lend me the money but I had to accept the insurances that came with it.

5 others had turned me down, they knew this information and I believe they used it against me...

For the record, I’m debt free and saving well now :)
  • The usual applies here. Any "Claim" should be submitted to the dealer that sold the Insurance and not the Finance Company. Submitting a SAR ( Which is now free) will just waste everyone's time, including yours

It was the Finance company who sold the PPI...

The car dealer didnt arrange the finance, I found Advantge Finance myself...the car dealer was just like "as long as the money goes in my account, you can drive the car away"

I think that you may have answered your own query here.
You found the Finance Company yourself, who said you needed to have PPI as you had told them that your finances were not great at the time. You then decided to proceed although you could presumably have looked elsewhere?

Advantge finance said i needed PPI, I told them that i was struggling to find a company to lend me the money and 5 other companies had refused me and they said that they would only lend me the money if i accepted the PPI, they used the fact i was struggling to enforce the PPI on me

I did proceed but i had tried others but didnt have any luck, do you dissagree that in this instance the PPI was mis-sold ?

It certainly doesn't sound mis sold if you're correct in your recollection.

The deadline is the 29th, that is the last date that you can lodge a complaint, you still have time therefore, to do this yourself. I have been steadily writing to all my creditors (8) over the last few months as I have found paperwork. i did one last year and was paid within the 8 weeks over £1300. I have others that are now outstanding but being worked on and the companies in question are keeping in touch with me, all bar one company who will be getting the rap on the knuckles very soon! I am using Resolver on here to do all this by the way and it has been very easy. Oh and one company who has already paid up, took it back a further 2 years than I was even aware of.

It is not my decision to make. What I would say is that at the time, lending to you would have been seen as a risk due to your then financial situation. Five other lenders did not wish to consider that risk.
You decided that due to your circumstances that you wanted to proceed with the deal. The Finance Company said that they would only take a risk if you had some way of meeting repayments in the event of unemployment etc. You agreed to this.

Any lender will look at at the facts, as would FOS if needed. Ultimately it is your decision as to whether you make a claim or not.
