Hello.

My 2 year min contract ran out 2 days ago and i will be porting out soon. I have a PAC and a PAYG sim which i got yesterday.

My S8 is locked to EE according to EE and i need to unlock it and today i tried but on my EE account page where my device is listed if i click upgrade options it says i can not upgrade until 8/7/2019 which was 2 days ago. It maybe because i have a PAC from them?

Today i go to unlock through my account and it asks if out of contract it will be free and in contract £8.99.

I go through the unlock portal and it asks for a payment card to unlock as it says i am still in contract.

I tried to do live chat but i keeps going in a loop telling me to unlock through myaccount.

I am at work and can not use mobiles during my shift and will not be able to call untill about 10:30 pm. I am using a work pc to try to unlock and do live chat.

Apart from calling late tonight is there another live chat option i could use if anybody knows of or has a link i would be very gratefull.

The live chat was busy for about 2 hours this morning so i gave up and tried at 1pm and after going through the drop down menus of what i wanted i got connected and went through security questions and then they asked what i wanted they said wrong department even though the 1st quetion i asked was about unlick code.

I tried again and go through and asked again for unlock code only to be told that i am still in contract and there will be a charge.

Explained my contract ended 2 days ago and Uday said i was still in contract. Asked he/she to check again and i still was told that i am in contract so i explained again and after 3-4 mins came back and said i am out of contract but i would still have to pay as i was still paying for a monthly contract.

I was getting irked by this time so i said thank you and goodbye and re-tried a few mins later and again i explained it all again and they asked for my IMEI No. and the reply was no fee to pay but if you are aked for card details don't worry you will not be charged and i was given a link to proceed.

After i filled in the form the email stated i would have to wait upto 72 hours for the code and the another 72 hours to 10 working days for the mobie to be unlocked.

As i am waiting to unlock to work can i still go ahead with the PAC to another operator or will that stop the unlock from going through?

No, the unlock process is completely independent of the [STRIKE]unlock[/STRIKE] porting process.

    Thank you for the reply.

I dod not want to port my number out from EE and then EE have an issue with the unlock code and i am then left with an EE locked mobile.

I am not sure what poster No. 3 is on about or are they trying to make out they work for EE ?

You don’t even have to be an EE customer to request an unlock.

They’ll likely email or text you the unlocking code, as it’s for a Samsung.

I suspect that user is just a spambot, I would ignore them.

I'm fairly certain the unlock process is entirely dependant on the unlock process. ;)

You’d be right as well ;)

But it is independent of the porting process (I’ve fixed it) :p

I am still waiting for the email/sms but has only been 1 day and a bit so there is still time.

I did not want to port the number over to the new network and the EE say they cant do it as i have changed provider or something like that. I know the unlock is free if out of contract but once i have left and still not have the unlock code i don't want EE to say there is a charge(if they charge) or they can't do it.

I am going to GiffGaff for a month or so and then look about for and S10 deals or just keep to sim only. I only went with GG so if i see a deal with EE then i can port back to them but their upgrade offers were not good for the S10 and the sim only was about £15 for 2GB and unlimited calls/sms which i think is rubbish.

Thank for the advice and replies so far.
