PCN Council: Electric Bay not clearly marked

Hello, can somebody please help me? I had visited Milton Keynes over the weekend and had stayed at Jury's Inn, The Hub. I was told that the car park across the road was the best place to park, and we had paid in advance as we had good honest intention to park there legally. When we entered the parking lot, I remember driving past a clearly marked (on the road) 'Disabled' bay and subsequently found a single parking spot further along the road (car park was full and it was the only spot there). We didn't notice any visible signs and there was no clear markings on the road when we parked our car. When we returned to the car after our weekend, we found 2 PCNs from Milton Keynes Council on our car for parking in an electronic vehicle only bay. Only after we received it, we noticed that the markings on the road had been rubbed off. If you weren't told it was an electronic vehicle bay, you would not be able to make out the words at all! It was completely rubbed off with only a few white bits! (no complete letters) We had not even noticed the charging points as they just look like black parking poles.
Of course I appealed through the Milton Keynes council website on the very same day, but our appeal was rejected on the grounds: "drivers must make sure they check the signs where they intend to park before leaving the vehicle" and "your vehicle was parked on an electric bay where payment for parking is not accepted". We sent them a photo of the rubbed off 'electronic vehicles' marking, but they ignored that completely and insist we pay our PCN. Additionally, the physical road signs are not clear at all (I wish I could attach them here). Can somebody please advise the best course of action in this situation? Anybody could've made the same mistake as the markings are no longer visible.
Thank you for reading my post. I appreciate your time.

no I cant, but I can tell you that you need to sign up on pepipoo fightback forums with a non Hotmail address and post in their council section after reading their FAQ
this forum mainly deals with private parking charges, not council0 -
Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction. I really appreciate it. Enjoy the rest of your week!0
