Barclays Premier

Hello

I have a current account with Barclays and applied for a Premier Account for the blue rewards. They contacted me today via post to ask me to call them ‘regarding the information they hold for me’.

To be open I don’t earn 75k a year, but with my partners income I/we do. Can I just advise them that 75k will be put into the account per year and leave it at that it will they require proof etc?

Just advise them accurately of the answers to the questions they ask.

I don't imagine the benefits are worth risking a CIFAS marker for.

You don’t need to be a premier customer to get blue rewards.

The main “benefit” is having a “relationship manager” call you every few weeks for an accord review.

    *account.

Oh and I’m pretty sure you do need to individually earn £75k+
  • I definitely don’t want to risk a CIFAS marker, however my plan was to tell them that 75k is planned to be put into the account per year.

And then plan was for triple rewards for a year

As long as the question is 'how much is planned to be put into the account per year', that should be fine.
  • Might give them a call. I don’t plan on being dishonest, I appreciate the impact this can have. It just says income of 75k

When you google the definition of income it says: money received, especially on a regular basis, for work or through investments.

Doesn’t say I have to be the one earning it

The criteria as written are "An annual gross income of £75,000 or more paid into a Barclays current account". It's a given that many Premier-qualifying customers will have income that is not a personal salary. A regular payment from a spouse could be considered part of income, as in the example of a child support payment, or contribution to rent or bills.

I am pretty sure you don't then have to actually pay £75k/annum into the account. I don't. When I applied for my account I put in my genuine salary (over £75k) and Premier was the only option given to me by the system, I didn't particularly want it (though the free coffees at Patisserie Valerie were nice while they lasted). I never said I was going to pay my salary into this account and I never have, only the £800/month for the Blue Rewards so less than £10k/annum.

They've never called me to flog me anything either!

I myself have been through this process recently, I applied for Premier based on the triple rewards. I called them today and he asked a few questions. I was honest, explained it said income and not salary, he agreed, I told him I don't earn 75k but with my partner I did.

He worked out how much is going into the account per month - and said I am eligible. He then asked me what my salary was, I told him but said my partners would be going into there.

He mentioned credit checks etc, I hope they don't do one (there is no mention on the website) as I have had a few lately.

Half way through he encounters an IT problem and he is going to call me back tomorrow?! If only my IT problems lasted 24 hours, I'd never do any work.

    I hope this helps
