Are you saying you don't have a duty of care to other motorists?
Other road users, in fact, if not the public at large. Hitting and damaging a stationary object is surely always going to tick all four boxes.

I don't believe for one moment that the driver of the BL "reversed blind". Why on earth would they, it's their job, they do it all day, day in, day out.
The cameras fitted allow millimetre positioning, not just giving a clear view of obstructions, but also for the safety of the collectors working directly behind the truck.

My take on it is, if the driver behind had stayed where they were, the truck would have reversed up to them, stopped without any collision, then driven away, but we'll never know will we.

Panic reversing wasn't a cleaver idea.

    Where was that mentioned?

The driver of the bin truck may have been able to see the car behind them reversing but unless any camera was positioned very high up on the lorry, it would be almost impossible to see the reversing car hit another vehicle.

Correct, we don't know one way or the other so it's all supposition.

However, even if the camera was high up, the driver of the lorry would probably only be looking at the distance between their vehicle and the car behind it.
I doubt very much if they would even have made any attempt to see what was happening to the rear of the car closest to them.

Exactly it's possible but you don't know.

As I said in post #64, it's all conjecture - none of us was there; not even the OP.

Leaving aside the pointless bickering above, the OP’s story suggests that had the driver reversed up to the car behind without hitting it the lorry would not have hit them either. It certainly has no evidence that it still would have.

I understand someone panicking if they believed that a lorry would hit them, but that’s only opinion, and isn’t backed up by the facts presented.

Sorry, OP, it sounds as though the driver did not need to actually crash, and is going to have a very hard time claiming otherwise.

    Where did I say that?

Anyhow, if he (or she) was aware, what's the relevance. They didn't make contact, the accident was caused by the vehicle behind reversing into someone else.
