This seems a large increase?

  • Nice limit increase!

How long have you held your card? Do you carry a balance at all?

Surprised to see Gary trying to rub people up the wrong way - so unlike him!

Virgin Money did something similar with my limit and I only ever use it to pay my Spotify subscription (to keep the card active) so I don't know why they bothered. I'd had no other change in circumstances so there were no obvious reasons for the increase.

Yes, not quite as large a jump but I had a letter from Virgin the other day saying my limit was going from £10500 to £14400, also on 22nd August. I wonder what's happening at Virgin on 22nd August that means everyone's getting an increase? ;)

Yes what's so special about 22nd August :)

It was opened in July 2018, so maybe something to do with how I've managed the account in a year.

I have never actually used the card to buy anything I got it for the long 0% balance transfer offer and just transferred balances from other cards onto it

    Current balance is £9,400

I have 2 other credit cards that are £0 balance, Barclaycard that I've had for years with a £12,000 credit limit and Halifax Clarity that I use on holiday with an £8,000 limit

That may not be a high limit for Premium credit card holders - but it will not be "normal" for ordinary punters.

I’m sorry 16k is a high limit for an average person.

Gary what is a high limit?
  • Just in my opinion, I’m not sure of others views I would consider limits in the following category:

    £100 - £1500 - Low Limit

    £1500 - £5000 - Average Limit

    £5000 - £20000 - High Limit

    £20000 + - Unusually High Limit

Are limits of 15k really necessary? Unless you have a massive purchase?

That would match with what I would expect. But Gary lives in his rooftop penthouse suite at the top of Dexter Towers. I think his limit expectations would definitely be higher than that :)
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

    I love my job

Agreed - maybe I need to tone down my expectations for the “lower class” on here?
