This seems a large increase?

I had a letter yesterday from Virgin saying that from 22nd August they are going to increase my credit limit from £10,900 to £15,900
£5k seems a lot in one go without me asking for it, has anyone else had a similar big increase without requesting one?
Maybe they like me, or want me to get into more debt :rotfl:

Similar thing happened to me with Virgin, I went from 7,000 to 12,000. Must just be how they work if you're good with managing your credit!0

Pretty normal and still a low limit.0

£16K is a "low limit" ?Pretty normal and still a low limit.
Hmm... I don't think on average it is.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com1 -

Maybe consider moving within QPR circles and you will be going along a more righteous path...chelseablue wrote: »I didn't think £16k was considered a low limit either, maybe I move in the wrong circles

It is still pretty low yes.0

"The average UK adult has two credit cards and an average total credit limit of almost £7,500 at their disposal, according to new research by MoneySupermarket."
So a single card with a £16K limit is not "pretty low".
Stop talking nonsense and trying to show off insinuating you have much larger limits. Pretty obvious what you are doing. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It’s not nonsense.
Please stop talking it yourself0 -

Yes, not quite as large a jump but I had a letter from Virgin the other day saying my limit was going from £10500 to £14400, also on 22nd August. I wonder what's happening at Virgin on 22nd August that means everyone's getting an increase?

On the other side of the coin, Virgin were the only credit card to reduce my available credit on a card with a previously high limit down to just a few £100 over my current balance.
As this was a 0% balance transfer card with a relatively low (and reducing) utilisation this was not of any consequence to me.
However, as this reduction came a couple of months after I had taken out more 0% cards, it seems that Virgin may be a little more pro-active in regards to performing more regular checks than most and adapt their current assessment of their borrowers accordingly.• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.0
