So my understanding is that in the month rewards is activated no rewards will be paid for that month as account fee condition will not have been fulfilled. Is this correct?

Easy as of now to fulfill Blue Rewards condition within the month the Blue Rewards is activated :

Day 1: I opened Barclays account at a branch having switched previous account out, Blue Rewards was added/activated, Account set to Paperless.

On arriving home I organised/set up 2 direct debits to come out as soon as they were able.

Day 2: I wandered into a Barclays Bank branch and organised switch

When debit card arrived I transferred 800.00 in and back out again

Next Month Fee will be taken, normal Blue Rewards will be added, later in month double rewards will be added.:)

My biggest worry (that people kindly responded to earlier in this post) is the balance of the account being transferred, I have pretty much all of my livelihood being transferred over and I'm relying on no issues with it because I'm screwed if the money somehow doesn't appear in my new account on switch day and my old account is inaccessible.

Also I have no idea of the procedure if this did somehow happen?? Is the balance covered by the switch guarantee system if the funds simply disappear (if possible)

simply send by faster payments all but say £100 to your new account once it is open but before the switch date and allow the switching service to switch the remaining £100 on the switch date.

Is your new account at Barclays now open & fully functional? In other words, can you pay money from it, use your debit card etc?

If so, and you're nervous about a large balance being switched and 'somehow not appearing' then why don't you switch some money manually now? That way you'll have money in both accounts.

The switch guarantee ensures you won't be out of pocket if anything does go wrong, but that doesn't help if you can't access any of your money.

Incidentally all the regular posters on here advise that you have at least 2 current accounts with different banking groups so that you're not in deep do do if/when your bank has IT problems

Sorry if Im repeating myself but I was probably going to transfer over some funds like you and others suggest.

My reason for not wanting to do that was because I didn't want it to affect or cause any conflicts when doing the switch but I've been reassured on here by different posters that this shouldnt cause a problem.

I haven't tested paying money in and out of the account but I can access the app and the card works in a cash point to view the balance etc.

My bank that I am moving from is Coventry building society and they are stopping debit card services which is why i am not leaving the account open

But there is nothing to stop you opening a second account somewhere else so that your eggs are not all in one basket!
Or just open a plain current a/c pop in some cash, and then take advantage of a switch deal later. Lloyds don't seem to have had any switching deals, or Tesco.

It is much wiser to have funds with more than one providerjust in case their system goes down..

True, but the people switching from Coventry have no reason to keep their Coventry account as that will become useless from September onwards. Coventry are getting out of the current account business and will only focus on savings and mortgages.

Does anyone happen to know the limit for a transfer from Coventry building society?

I never suggested keeping the Coventry a/c at all. I said open a second account somewhere that doesn't give a switch deal , then switch later to get the reward from a different bank.
It still isn't wise to keep everything in one bank/banking group.
