Am I going to be arrested?

Please can someone give me some advice...
I have spent some time over on the buying, selling, renting foum.
I have asked for some advice on buying a house.
I am now sat here in floods of tears worried that my door is going to be kicked down and I'm going to be arrested. One post called me a fraud, advising other users to shop me to the police and another user was sarcastic (mind you I think I asked for that as I snapped back at an earlier sarcastic remark he made to me)
I have basically come into some money 26k. I have 48k of debt. I have offered F&F but none of my debtors want to know. So I thought that I'd try and use this lump sum to try and make some more so that I can pay them off in full, or at least offer more. Is this illigal?
You people on here have always been such a support when my debts overwhelm me. I can't believe how much they have frightened and upset me.

Thank you Rambo so much.

There is nothing unlawfull in offering F&F settlements for debts.
All that will happen is your credit rating will be affected. If you are looking to buy a house you may find difficulties in obtaining a mortgage!
Can I ask how you came into this money and why you think you could be arrested?0 -

No. Not unless by "using this lump sum" you're going to be buying crack cocaine and selling on the streets.
You could buy 200,000 barbie dolls with it, and that would be fine too.

I don't know what has been going on but I don't think you need to panic. I can't quite see how not paying your debts will get you arrested? I am also not sure (unless you are planning a bank job) trying to make more money will get you arrested.
Sit tight and I will have a look at the thread. Have a cuppa and calm down.

Take no notice. The post where you were called a con artist look at the posters name ( his occupation is hardly moral ). I often spend time browsing on there and they can be a funny lot. They even started a thread the other day asking to ban any talk of house prices falling thus starting another thread discussing the subject :rotfl: . Do not panic you have nothing to worry about.

Penny Racer, I just went through that thread and quite frankly there are some ridiculous and extremely unhelpful comments going on.
No one is going to come knocking on your door trying to arrest you and anyone that suggests you are is a bit of a muppet and a bit above their station hehe.
As for the F&F settlement, if it was me I'd probably try and use it to pay some stuff off or keep a little bit saved for rainy days, e.g. unemployment/sickness etc, rather than entering BTL which is a very dodgy area at the moment.
But anyway, maybe the best thing you can do is get some official advice, maybe speak to one of the debt charities and see if they can negotiate a F&F for you?
In the meantime, have a hug. I'd even post the dodgy smiley if I could find it but I am too technically challenged so you'll just have to imagine it!...I like my coffee black, just like my metal!
