Am I going to be arrested?

Hi Penny - try not to worry about it hon, that particular person can't tell that you are female despite the fact that you are called Penny and have a husband, so I really wouldn't be too concerned about their opinion. As Lavendyr says though, most people around here aren't like that.
I've been flamed on another board before now, by someone who didn't stop to find out the full story (and wasn't willing to listen when I tried to explain because they had already made their mind up), and didn't stop to think about the effect their words were having - it's horrible, but it's just a few petty individuals.
I promise, no one is going to break your door down and arrest you. xxx"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Lavendyr,
Thank you. You are absolutley right. It was a very immature remark that I made about the cage. and yes they did make a very good point afterwards.
I'm not normally this highly strung. so appologies. These debts (although they were brought on by myself) have slowly chipped away at my sanity.
And as someone else pointed out perhaps i shouldn't take on a btl if a few comments online freak me out!
So I'm going to try and get rid of these debts and try and build my confidence back. As I'm sure many of you will agree debt takes chunks out of you mentally. If its not the phone calls its the letters, then its the little white lies to your friends and families. And so it goes on. It slowly wears you down. But I'm one of the lucky ones who has a bit of cash to make a start on them. I wish I could share it out amongst all of you I really do.

They want to take advantage of offering F&F settlements as they are totally entitled to do so. Just as creditors are entitled to refuse it.
This board isn't about judgement so why do you insist on doing so BH?0 -
Hey PR, I've been flamed on almost every board on MSE. I think I'm about the most unpopular person on here at the moment. It's usually people who jump to conclusions and/or don't have the right facts. But I don't let it get to me and I'm starting to quite enjoy it now.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Hello Penny Racer, don't worry, it is easily done.
I just know from experience that it is easy to get upset on the Internet, and that also people can be a lot more outspoken here than they would normally be, and if you think you might be negatively affected by that, just take some time away from the keyboard and try to think about it rationally & logically. Lots of people are in support of you on that other thread, it's only one stupid post and you should believe that you are a better person than to get upset by someone like that.
I wouldn't judge you or anyone on how they got into debt, I can understand there are many circumstances for different people, and someone who is well off today might find themselves in debt tomorrow for whatever reason. But I would really, really be worried for you if you went ahead and bought this house you are talking about because it could be an absolute disaster for you, if it were even to be possible in the first place. And I wish you absolutely every luck in getting your debt sorted - I just think there are safer ways of doing so which will not be so risky and dangerous for you.0 -
Penny I had a look and I think some people were downright rude and unhelpful, dont let them get you down,0

I haven't read the thread in question (yet), but I know how you must be feeling as I have also been the victim of some nasty folk on here, who wouldn't dare say the sort of stuff to me face to face but feel brave enough to say it on here . I've often come running back to DFW in floods of tears to the cosy comfort blanket of the DFW folk. After tea and sympathy from the lovely DFW people you'll soon feel better
. If you want my advice, never leave DFW except to venture into MFW where there are also some lovely, albeit miserly and grasping, people
As far as the advice with the money you have come into, I would echo what another has said in here that you've missed the boat on huge property increases and any gains now are going to be very long term - so use this money to pay down a big chunk of your debts and you'll feel an immediate benefit. Use the money to set up a risky money making scheme and you'll be even more stressed (and possibly more broke) than you are now.
Right, I'm off to read the other thread. Keep your chin up and don't let the B'stards get you downMortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

Maybe you could post all your debts and monthly payments etc and we can give you better advice.
Hi and try not to worry too much about what others say and think.
This was exactly what I was about to say..... But you got there first SS
My addition to this is that if you pay the bigger ones with highest payments first then you may be able to afford / resume normal payments on the other ones :T. That way everyone will be happy, and your credit score/ report will start to look better too.0
