@pioneer22 this was done (unplanned) when we were forced to visit the marketing suite to get updates on the situation. Another buyer was there and we told them just how bad these developers are. The following week my solicitor received an email from theirs, quote, “should Your Clients attend the marketing suite again and make such defamatory comments about Our Client to other purchasers then Our Client will have no choice but to consider what options are available to it”... whatever that threat is meant to mean lol

Myself and a number of neighbours did this, after we hit issues that weren't fixed after the snagging.

    Hi,

What’s my best way to approach it?
As a goodwill gesture, that's all it is.

Approach it like the negotiating situation it is.
A goodwill offer is very rarely the start of negotiations. Normally it's take it or leave it . .

Bear in mind that goodwill can evaporate if you push your luck.
    It certainly can ;)

They aren't going to. You have already said they have basically told you to zip it in the marketing suite. If they deem you a nuisance then they aren't going to go out their way to accommodate you.

I would argue otherwise. They didn’t give a goodwill gesture because they wanted to. The threat of negative press certainly has changed their tune and when The Guardian are sending them emails asking what’s going on they have a problem.

You haven't said how much you are after.

I would be looking for £6000 to cover some of the costs I have faced. I also do not deem this to be unreasonable as similar amounts have been offered by other developers when their customers are faced with similar delays.

What caused the delays? Was it beyond their control.

First blamed on UKPN, then council delays, then gas connection, then their cladding contractor went bust???, and now gas and building control delays. Surely it isn’t a coincidence that two of their other developments are suffering from excessive delays as well in excess of 6 months each.
