to quote the OP:
"I can probably quite easily get a loan if need be to cover the HP agreement but to be fair I like the idea of HP in case I need to get out half way through if my circumstances change or have issues with the car."
I can't VT or want to VT on this car, I just like the option if necessary. Only ever had to once in 23 years though.
Only had this vehicle 3 weeks. Its low mileage, in great condition and plan to have it a good 5 to 7 years while the kids are growing up. (Its a discovery sport).
I was hoping someone on here may have had a similar experience but it seems most are thinking the along the same lines as me and only assuming.
For me, its all very weird why the finance company haven't been in touch directly (as of yet), They have my address and mobile number.0 -
They might be able to void the finance, but they can't make you return the car. Worst case is the dealer will return the money to Motonovo and you'll need to arrange another finance option.0

Curiosity got to me so I phoned the finance company this afternoon asking what the issue was. All the women from customer services could tell me was that the note on the agreement says the issue is between them and the dealer. I said the dealer has been in touch with me pestering to try get new finance or a loan on the vehicle.
She said "are you looking at buying another car?". I said no why. She then says well it's got on here that the dealer states you are rejecting the car. I've said that is absolute rubbish, I'm happy with the car and have no idea where this has all come from.
I was told to.phone dealer and ask them to stop contacting me regards new finance or personal loans and that they should be speaking direct with motonovo.
Spoke to dealer who was like "I wonder why they think you want to reject the car?". I'm like because you have clearly done something wrong and trying to use an excuse to get out of what u have done!! Could tell on the phone he was lying but why I have no idea.
So I'm no further forward other than knowing motonovo have no issue with me and its between the dealer and them...for now.
I've also found out today that the car was suppose to have had a service prior to collection yet the air filters never been out of that car for months so I've had to buy all the gear for an oil/air filter change + new fuel filter (also promised it would be changed and hasn't been)
Fuming doesnt come close.0 -

I don't know why you've done that given you're in a strong position to have it done by the dealer.0 -

Mainly because the dealer is clearly lying to the finance company and I want nothing more to do with them than necessary. Cost of parts for an oil change with air filter and fuel filter has come to around £60 and I'll do it myself.
Last thing I need is trying to get them to actually service it with the ongoing issue they are trying to bring me on.
I think when I'm off on Friday I'm going to see if my legal cover on house insurance can be used to offer any professional advice on this matter.0 -

You can look at that in two ways either you'll devalue the vehicle by losing the service history or being a Land Rover you'll be fixing it a lot over the 5-7 years you intend to keep it for.0 -

Know what your saying but 23 yes buying and selling new and used cars I've never had a problem with resale value and you never devalue more than the savings you make.
For example, landrover basic oil change on my car is £340. Oil change with fuel filter £440. Doing it myself its going to cost £80 and 20 mins work saving me £360. Never service doing myself without fuel filter will cost me £50 saving me £290 so over 5 years, 5 services I'll save on average just under £1200 on service costs and when selling they usually dont under value it by any where near that.
Dont get me wrong I do put car in for an annual service at an Indepedant garage but often do an oil change half way through the year to prevent DPF dilation issues. This oil change is just an extra one to make sure I know it's been done.
As for reliability, well I wouldn't have bought a land rover for that as they are well down in reliability stakes lol at 41% but luckily I'm quite handy in the garage
Anyway...my post is about the finance issue not worrying over car servicing which I've lived with for half my life and sleep well at night knowing I can fix most things if need be..clutches etc so I rarely trust apprentices in dealerships0 -
Motonovo should have done an HPI check at the time the deal was agreed so someone there has slipped up.
They will now be asking the dealer for the funds back. If they were actually paid out.
Which is way they want you to get another loan organised.0 -

Funds were paid as dealership wouldnt release car until they had payment in bank even though it had been authorised.
Dealership are saying they did HPI it but the person doing it missed the Cat D marker and wasnt picked up until 2.5 weeks later.
I'm annoyed though why the finance company have a note on my file that I want to reject the car when I dont and haven't said such a thing so dealership have clearly told them that for some reason but dent it!!! I've told finance company I'm happy to keep car as its spot on and that someone is clearly lying somewhere.0 -
...
Garage said not to worry and I wouldnt need to pay any fees if it was transferred or any increase in payments if they can not contest it with motonovo....
Do you really trust the garage to keep making the payments each month? When they've already lied to both you (about doing the service) and the finance company (HPI clear, you wanting to reject the car).
If you're going to keep the car and let yourself be moved onto more expensive finance, get any dealer contribution up front!0
