Hi Can any one help
I have a large green cable box situated slap bang in the middle of my drive , well the entrance of my drive. The box was owned by telewest broadband and then taken over by virgin. Now you may be thinking soooo!!
Last year we recieved shocking news our daughter was diagnosed with a terminal illness, which has made accessing the driveway imperative. I have called, emailed, wrote and even bawled my eyes out with frustration but nothing has happened. I wrote to Mr Branson or so i thought i did only to be fobbed off again. Can any one out there help PPPPPPPPleasssssssssse

Yes the drive was made after the obstruction, but saying that, the day they came to put up the atrocity i did say to them 'look around my friend you can see ample places where you wont be obstructing any one', lo and behold come back from work and yes you've guessed it was lookin back at me. At the time having no car and kids it wasn't a major big deal. One of the workers also quoted 'don't worry love you can have it removed in future' Ha!
I have asked the council and they have washed their hands of it and said it has nowt to do with them, Same with the high way people they said take it up with virgin and here i am after banging my head and a sore head0 -
Well i know it sounds daft , but the drive was actually made so we could get our daughter into the house safely. There wasn't any alternative really. The box is actually on the begining entrance of the drive.Because my lil girl has deteriorated so fast all our time , effort and finances have been poured in that direction. Buying another house just wasn't an option unless i win the lottery, which i can't cos i don't gamble0

Unless your front boundary is only 6ft wide, can't you move or angle the 'drive' to access your property elsewhere along your boundary? & If its not too personal a question, what is so imperative about the drive to your daughter's condition. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings

You cant just build something then ask for pre existing things to be removed to suit you
You can if it is on your land. Telewest, if that was the original company, may not have anything official to say they can put the box there.
Personally I would "ensure" that the box was accidentally damaged and park my car in front of it.
When they turn up to fix it I would say "Sorry, I can park my car here or park it on my drive, but your box is blocking my drive. If you ant access to the box then you will have to move it."
Then sit back and see how many customers put pressure on them to get into the box and fix it.
Put a fence, or build a wall in front of it and they will move it as soon as they need access to it. Until they need access to it they will ignore you, and it.0 -

I would be very surprised if the cab was actually on the OP's land. I imagine it is on the pavement outside.
They would have been granted planning permission to locate it there, and to move it, they would require PP again. There is no way that they could do this particularly quickly, and so they would have to repair the 'damaged' cab where it is, in order to reinstate service.
Before suggesting that someone damages someone else's property, it may be worth making them aware of the full facts. Those that damage cabs, even in 'accidental' circumstances, are liable for the cost of repairing the cab. When I worked at ntl, this was £1000.Gone ... or have I?0 -

If you read one of the earlier posts you'll find that they were "looking for a suitable place for it". Sounds like, if they did have PP then it was just for the box in the general area, not that exact spot. There is no way that they could do this particularly quickly, and so they would have to repair the 'damaged' cab where it is, in order to reinstate service.

Hi Can any one help
I have a large green cable box situated slap bang in the middle of my drive , well the entrance of my drive.
Where, exactly, is the cable box ..... on your land? on the pavement immediately outside your drive?
I am guessing it's the latter - that it's on the pavement outside your drive (or even the road).
How can it be obstructing your drive? Are you saying you can't drive over it? If so .... then is it an obstruction to pedestrians?
I'm having difficulty envisaging how it can be an obstruction
Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
