Only supplier is Amazon

I want to buy a particular item, actually a smartphone gimbal.
After much research, i have picked the one I want, but it seems the only suppliers are on Amazon
No doubt 1000's of purchases are made from here every day but I have never done it before, don't even have an account.
I'm sure setting up an account is easy, but what if anything goes wrong. In the past I would nearly always buy technical items from major stores (John Lewis / Fenwicks) knowing if I ever had any problems it would easy to resolve them.
With Amazon .. I'm just not too sure

If there is a problem with an item you pay for on Amazon (and Amazon supplied it) you just report it, you send the old item back via Hermes within 30 days (free postage, just drop it off at any Hermes drop off point), they receive it and you get the credit.
Procedure may be different from suppliers on Amazon (ie the marketplace) who generally ask you to send it back at your own cost but generally if there is an issue Amazon will usually come down on your side.
You'll be fine. Seriously. I've had an Amazon account since 2002, bought all kinds of things over the years and can count the number of issues on the fingers of one hand.0 -

Look at the right hand side where the delivery info is.How do you know whether the item is being sold by Amazon directly or by somebody selling through Amazon
Sold by Amazon:
Sold by a marketplace seller:
Sold by a marketplace seller who pays Amazon to hold the stock in Amazon's warehouse and handle the shipping:

Hundreds of them on ebay, are you sure its only available on Amazon?
Lots of people relist Amazon items on ebay and get Amazon to deliver. Been a few posts on here where someone paid too much thinking ebay is the cheapest and upset it came from Amazon where it was cheaper.
Sending stuff back on Amazon is quick and easy.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
which one are you buying - I am just nosey.
With so many high street stores struggling, you never know who will be around in the future.
In the tube a good few seen quite a few yellow Selfridges bags, but no green Harrods bags this year?0 -
On Amazon be aware that 3rd party “Market Place” vendors could be anywhere in the world with little detail about them. I have bought a lot from Amazon themselves without any issues, including sending faulty items back without any hassle. The same level of support is unlikely from 3rd parties...
eBay offer money back guarantees on goods ordered that do not arrive, or the wrong item sent, etc. It favours the buyer over the seller, and is probably a better bet than 3rd party sellers on Amazon as at least the sellers legal address details are shown on eBay. In the case of items from places like China, it might cost more in return postage than a faulty item cost to buy, the Chinese subsidised overseas post costs the seller virtually nothing to send!0 -
Not just me that struggles to find sellers details on Amazon then?
How can Amazon get away with hiding that info?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The name of the seller is a hyperlink - click that and it tells you their details.forgotmyname wrote: »Not just me that struggles to find sellers details on Amazon then?
