Travel money cards

Hi me and my partner are planning to travel around America next year flying from UK.
We are looking for travel cash card where:
-You can put all your money on and use different currency
- can used it in the UK or get the money back off the card if we have any money left over
- able to withdraw but only limited amount a day

Or just look at a Halifax clarity card and clear the balance each month.

No pre loading , withdrawal of cash at atm if needed (not free in the USA , all ATMs charge fee's)

I do not understand why anyone would choose to use a prepaid travel card when there are so much better alternatives.

Then come back and explain why you want to use a prepaid card.

As a very quick guide, all prepaid cards cost money by giving poor exchange rates and/or some combination of fees (sometimes obscured), such as loading fees, currency exchange fees, ATM withdrawal fees, fees for withdrawing unused currency in sterling, fees for holding a balance on the card after a certain period of it not being used, card renewal fees, lost card replacement fees, etc. etc. Be sure to look carefully for all of these that apply.

By contrast, travel credit cards give the best exchange rates and some offer zero ATM fees (so only a small interest charge on cash withdrawals):

They offer the usual CC protections, typically no fees, and you only owe what you spend (so no waste converting what you don't need and no unused money to withdraw).

Alternatively (or additionally), a few of the newer banks offer current accounts with debit cards that are good for foreign travel. See same link as above for what might suit your requirements.

Travel with AT LEAST two cards in case of problems, NOT kept in the same wallet/purse!
