Halifax mortgage PPI

I have recently raised a PPI complaint through resolver via this site. I have read that it's hit and miss with mortgage PPI but thought I'd give it a try.
I've received a letter from the Halifax acknowledging my claim, they will look at it and get back in touch with me with their decision shortly.
In their letter they said the TMPP (total mortgage protection plan) was made up of MRC (mortgage repayment cover, LC (life cover) & CIC (critical illness cover). They also said that a seperate amount was charged for each element and inline with my complaint they would only focus on the MRC element of the plan.
Does anyone know if what they say is correct? It wasn't sold to me in the way they describe, I was just given one price and told I had to have it with my first mortgage with them.
I'm not sure whether to write back to them to question why they are splitting it in 3.
I'd be grateful if someone could offer their advice and experience.
Thank you.

Why would you "write" to contest this? A simple Google search would confirm that the Bank have already provided the correct information..0 -

I was unsure as to why all 3 segments arent classed as PPI and as such why it all cant be claimed back. As i said, i wasnt given any other option when taking out my first mortgage. If this is what the banks do to work out PPI payouts thats fine, i just wanted confirmation.0 -

Critical Illness and Life Insurance are in no way PPI.
You do realise that no insurance can simply be "claimed back"?
You have to show that the insurance was somehow mis-sold to you if you hope to have it refunded.
What complaint reasons do you have for parts of this policy?0 -
I'll try to be a clearer as perhaps I'm not coming over as I intend..
When I took out my first mortgage with Halifax I was told that I had to take the PPI cover with Halifax as it was policy for all first mortgages.
The logic I was applying and part of the reason for my question is that Halifax forced me to buy their payment protection policy or I couldn't have the mortgage, i didn't get an option to opt out of CIC OR LC and just purchase MRC instead, it was sold as a bundle. If it's legal that Halifax to only have to pay back the MRC element of the plan they sell that is also bundled together with CIC and LI then I've no option but to go with this. However with my current mortgage through TSB i wasn't forced to buy any protections at all.0 -

You were hardly "forced"
You have a very weak complaint.
However, Halifax usually pay out on such "claims" regardless, so you may well still be successful.0 -
As someone who had Halifax TMPP it is blindingly obvious that it was made up of 3 elements IF you read the information supplied.
It"s also nonsence to say you weren'y given the choice to opt out of any of the elements. Plus you could have cancelled any element at any time.0 -

Maybe you didn't see all of my previous post. I'll expand a little... I was told that I had to have the PPI added onto my policy as it was my first mortgage. I was also advised that I could get the mortgage initially, so I made an offer on the house and had it accepted, i was then asked to go to the local branch near my work place by their mortgage adviser so I could sign the paperwork etc, at this point I was told I had to have their PPI or I couldn't have the mortgage. It was Halifax company policy that PPI was sold for people who were taking out their first mortgage, either that or the mortgage adviser lied.0 -
You can say "I was told I had to have it" as much as you want, but do you have anything to back that up?
From memory I was given a 'key facts' document which would have assessed your need for it. Do you have any such document.
Mortgage PPI is a different ball game to 'normal' PPI in that it was considered a good thinh to have and can still be bought today. How would you have paid your mortgage if you had lost your job or long term illness?0 -

Are the puerile comments really necessary?0 -
