In my (admittedly limited) experience (I don't work for a bank but know several people who do) - I'd say you have virtually zero chance of passing their pre employment checks with the amount of defaulted debt you have.

Due to medical evidence they said they will not persue me for the debt as they'd rather me get better so it wouldnt go to debt collectors etc

    That's remarkable. Almost.... unbelievable!

You have 40k worth of defaulted debt and you think an entry level banking job will allow you to pay it of within 8 months? You're having a laugh.

ANY job at a bank that pays enough that you can clear 40k in 8 months - with enough for you to live on on top would require deep credit checking... if they even gave you a chance to explain why you defaulted and why you aren't paying, this mystery medical reason would probably be a major red flag for them... I mean... how would you cope with the 10-12 (conservative estimate) hour days that are routinely expected of entry level employees earning 75k upwards?

Something just isn't adding up here is it.

You really think a bank would let you have a job with them when your in 40k if debt.

Think of it like this would you let someone work with money in your situation.

If you can’t control your personal finances how do they expect you to control a banks with loads of money there.

Even if not working directly with "money", a bank will always view those with financial "problems" with suspicion. That is why they carry out the checks. Even a relatively "clean" financial position with a couple of blemishes can be enough for them to reject you and look elsewhere.

What kind of ' entry level job in a bank in London' pays £150,000 a year? That's about what you'd need to take home £40,000 in six months to clear your debts.

I'm sure the bank is queuing up to employ people in piles of defaulted debt who are too ill to pay it back.

    Good luck man
