Hi All

I bought a new car 8 months ago. In the last month I have noticed rust in a many places. I took the car to the dealer who took photo’s and sent to the manufacturer under warranty.

The manufacture has basically said that as the rust is not on the outer panels, then they wont do anything. Clearly to me something has been missed at the factors as a modern car should not be rusting so quick in this day and ago.

I have put this in the hands of the finance company for now as technically they own the car but so far they are not proving very good.

Does anyone know of solicitors who understand this area and know what cost would be to start getting them involved. May be with a free initial consultation to understand the best ways to proceed and what to expect.

I do intend to start shaming them including building a website with photo’s to start putting people off buying the brand unless the start to resolve my issues.

Thank

Where is the rust? On painted panels?

Where are the many places you found rust? Not on the brake discs I hope.

Are we just talking about surface corrosion on parts of the driveline and suspension?

We are talking rust on welded joint, under the bonnet. Welded joints underneath the car which basically means that now can’t be fixed in the joint

Can you post up some pictures.

I genuinely cannot see you having a case, so think twice before you instruct a solicitor against a major manufacturer.

    On the bodyshell, or?

    Let's see a pic.

Can you explain what you mean by that?

If you are genuinely concerned, spend the money on a coat of waxoyl or similar under the car.

Probably a bit late now but a car this young should not rust

The only one of those that looks a bit shonky is the last one, the spring mount. The rest are just cosmetic. The first isn't even a welded joint - it's where the bolted section has chafed slightly.

I'm going to guess that we're looking at something fairly cheap and disposable.
