  • Axk should leave it for the waiting on staff only if they will actually receive it, some restaurants do not pass on tips because they say they pay a good hourly rate instead of National Minimum.

Alternatively he could buy 20 lucky dip lottery tickets and let everyone know what he's done, you never know he might win them £1000's.......:j

This happens when I go out with 1 group of friends. We all add up what we owe and throw cash at our mate that pays. I`m sure she never leaves a tip as she always gets first drinks at next stop as she says we always leave too much money!! You never make from your friends, you give. Axl keeps money for now, arranges next meet and buys everyone a drink, that is what friends do.:rotfl:
  • These people don't know the £4 was owed back to them. I'd keep it and buy them a drink next time I see them and tell them the reason why.

Thats technically theft, its called theft by finding.

Sounds to me like you have less morals than the average selfish idiot.

As for the £20, I dont think its a majorly big deal if he kept it. I pressume they split the bill exactly in 4 like most adults do.

However I personally would tell them all and offer them the money.

Its then their decision to refuse it.

Imagine splitting the Bill as an adult!!! What an embarassement!

Could one of them not pay. Imagine being so thrifty to ask your friends to shell out for lunch!!!

Surely next time one of them would pay in due course.

Put the £20 towards the petrol costs of getting there LOL!

I'd say that if an accountancy student did the calculations and nobody complained at the time about how much each was chipping in then the overpayment is a tip and should be left for the waiting staff. Why was Axl counting it out, anyway, he already knew how much he'd to pay, didn't he?
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

  • Axl should give the £20 to Oxfam and tell his mates next time he sees them. They won't mind a small surplus from paying for a slap up meal going to people who are hungry.

Oxfam my !!!!! They use most of their cut to pay themselves and not the people the money is intended for...

Give to your local NEEDY charties if you have to.

No he shouldn't pay back his mates - only because it could have been the other way round and his mates paid him short. I don't think he would have been able to recuperate the money from his mates.

Some people have to work for at least 3/4 hour for £4, in fact probably the waiter/waitresses involved. Perhaps their time is not as valuable as yours.

If Service is include I think it has to co to the waiters/waitresses. If service was particularly good then leave it as a tip. Otherwise I agree with the "it's only 4 quid" comment.
