    Thanks. I checked that site the other day then next time I couldn't find it and ended up on Samknows One.

    55Mbps is available at the cabinet, but certainly not 400m further along via the aluminium cable.

    I had forgotten to check Vodafone. Thanks.
  • It looks like you should be able to get ADSL. Maybe try phoning Sky or Plusnet to see if you could place an ADSL order:
    - if you can, ask why you can't do it online
    - if not, ask why.
    Either way, you'll hopefully be able to get it remedied so you can apply online and get the cashback.

    You could also try the Plusnet forum as there are staff on that forum which are usually pretty helpful. They should be able to see how the order process would progress.

    Thanks for the reply and suggestions which I have taken note of..

    Did you see the speed estimate it gave for ADSL?

    :rotfl::rotfl:
    That is the actual speed I got before I moved to Sky!

    If not for yourself then for others reading this:-

    The Sam Knows website is useless for the majority of people, please stop using it or recommending it.

    It may occasionally (partially) work but you're better of using https://my.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/adsl.htm?s_cid=ws_furls_adslchecker

    If you're with BT now then put your telephone number in otherwise use the Address Checker link further down. For Virgin just use their website which only requires a postcode and house number.
  • Maybe the low speed is what's stopping them offering you ADSL, in which case a phone call should confirm. See if the btwholesale link above gives a similar result.

    I don't think 2Mbps is generally enough for streaming; BBC iPlayer says it needs more than 1.5Mbps.

    The drop outs are on all devices, including a desktop that is hardwired to the hub.

    This means the problem isn't with WiFi, then.
