Hi,
I've got a ticket from parking eye for going over a 2 hour stay by 13 minutes. I appealed but it was rejected. I then got another ticket from parking eye for a completely random car I've never been the owner of. I naturally used the appeal process to query this as well, I've never had any communication back from parking eye to say sorry for the mistake. I sent another message through their online form asking for the reconsider the original appeal and also asking for an update on the bogus fine. This was a few weeks ago now and I've just got a letter saying they the original fine has been passed onto a debut collection agency and I owe £175. Can they do this seeing I've going through the appeal process? Also do I have right to compensation due to a completely bogus attempt to extort money from me using someone else car? Any advice on next steps would be appreciated.
Thanks
Phil.

If P/Eye have passed a case to debt collectors it usually means they won't be suing. Equita? Ignore them.
Re the other one, complain to the Information Commissioner reporting a concern about how P/Eye used your data.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so complain to your MP.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
