Talking of unprofessional and inexperienced...
I got this reply from my SAR request to ppc
In regards to your request regarding “data subject access request” please could you have xxx Call me to confirm she has asked for the email address used xxx
To be used to release the requested information as this email address has no association with xxx at this present time.
If xxx could Please call me on the number below between the hours of 08.30 – 16.00.
xxx denotes personal info. Email address incorrect and poor grammar used, but aside from that - I provided a copy of the V5 to provide proof of id. How is calling them going to prove who is who, surely anyone can call up, and is this just a method to get you to say who the driver was?0 -
^ any thoughts on the above?0

My opinion is as you state: -and is this just a method to get you to say who the driver was?0

I would reply to the email and say no-one is deluded enough to phone a PPC scammer. The email address is the right one and the V5C proved the request came from the data subject, and the 30 days is ticking. If the PPC prefer to send the SAR by post to the data subject if they are wary of email, then that will be acceptable but must arrive within the deadline.
If the PPC refuse to provide the SAR without the excessive requirement for a phone conversation (no doubt to try to trick the keeper into discussing who was driving which will not happen) then the PPC will be immediately reported to the ICO and their refusal drawn to the attention of POPLA, the BPA and the DVLA as well.
Remind them too, that the keeper has appealed and expects a POPLA code or cancellation of the charge, also within the BPA time limit of 35 days for that.
Surely the appeal used the same email address? If so, point that out too.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
