Solid fuel heating

I currently have solid fuel central heating and need to start looking to convert due to environmental pressures. What is the best alternative fuel and are there any grants out there to help me fund the conversion. It is an old system with a Trianco coke fire, a back boiler capable of heating 10 radiators in a 3 storey end terrace house. I am a home owner and due to retire in the next year or so. I need to change soon whilst I am still earning and before I start drawing my pension. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Is the property well insulated?
Is it on a mains gas supply?
Do you have a budget in mind?
Do you want minimum disruption or are you prepared to put up with internal works, redecoratation etc (eg installing underfloor heating)?0
