Son going to travel to Dublin for a festival. Is it better to buy euros in uk or use ATM in Dublin? Thanks

I would always use an ATM there, but I have taken care to get a couple of debit cards that do not charge me for foreign use (if you only have one and it gets blocked for some reason, you are in real trouble). Using one of the cards that Martin calls "the cards from hell" is likely to cost even more than buying Euros here.0

When is the festival ?
He can get a Starling debit card quickly by applying with a tablet or iPad.
No fees at foreign ATMs.
Metrobank is the same deal in Europe - he can apply online but it'll take several days to get the card.
However if you live anywhere near one of their branches they will issue a card to successful applicants who attend in person within around a hour - he'll need the usual ID requirements for this.0 -

Install the app, sign up for account, card delivered in a couple of days, use it in Ireland for payment (in euros always) and euro cash withdrawals,
Monzo and Metro Bank as additional/backup.Evolution, not revolution0
