Good afternoon,
I'm wondering if anyone can advise where I stand on cancelling our wedding. Cancelling based on the venue now having a 1 star food hygiene rating, it was previously a 5 star. I'm obviously hoping this issue will be resolved but if it isn't am I within my rights to cancel and get our deposit back.
Thanks in advance

That very much depends on the T&Cs you agreed to.
I assume it has had a recent rating change, what was it previously? If it was 5 star before this then it can be an easy fix0 -
I doubt you'd have any right to unless you had put something specific about it in the contract.0

As above, unless your contract has some sort of "performance clause" in it, it won't be grounds for cancellation. After all, the inspectors haven't actually stopped them operating, have they?0

Was the 5* rating stated anywhere in the online or written advertisements for the venue?
If it was, then you might be able to argue that this was one of the reasons you chose that particular establishment and as their rating has now dropped drastically, this differs from what they advertised and sold their product as when you signed the contract.
After all, would anyone really want to spend what may be a very large sum of money on food at a place that the Food Standards agency have decided that "major improvement is necessary"?0
