Ethernet Cable?

Whats a powerline?
Homeplug:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Value-200Mbps-Home-Plug-Double/dp/B001AIKBB4
(I know they aren't available atm but that's what they look like)
Uses electricity cabling to effectively create a wired network without any need to run a physical cable. They're brilliant, you just plug them in:
Computer -> Network cable to Homeplug and switch plus on.
Router -> Network cable to Homeplug and switch it plug on.
Three green lights? You're good to go.
Useful for when the computer is upstairs and the router and phoneline is downstairs.0 -

Why not use powerlines?
I have a quite reasonable loathing of powerlines having spent a couple of hundred and wasted days trying to get them to work in my home at a reasonable sped (it turns out that they didn't work in any of the three houses on my street that I tried them on*, at least not at more than about 10mbs for the 500mbs set).
I like the basic idea but for less than it cost me to buy one of the three sets I ended up with, I eventually ran cabling to the room I was having issues getting a cat 5 cable to (a friend pointed out the use of magnets and string between floorboards and ceiling;)), and the garage.
*I tried one of my sets when a neighbour needed to run a connection between his living room and conservatory.0 -
Power line so that's what they are called
Talktalk installed them for the TV box in my son's room.
Just found out his Xbox is run off the WiFi and not a cable.
The max length of cable will be 2mtrs
I also have a WiFi extender in my room for the CCTV.
That is just a single plug in the wall and not like the talktalk one and I run a cable from it to the dvr.
My TV is WiFi also
Thanks
Would a decent power line help with my son's Xbox and the TV box as the X box sometimes drops the signal?
If yes please can you recommend one he has 3 WiFi devices in his room
X box
Google mini thing
His Smart TV
Plus the TV box but that needs the cable.
Our BB is fibre 76mb
No phone sockets up stairs.
All internet devices down stairs are wired to the router.
Thanks
ThanksSpending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -

probably only one meter-ish, the average drop to the floor is 1m per side. hopefully not a pulled taught cable
no one mentioned solid or stranded cores
The pro way is to use a rod similar to a fishing rod. if the path is clear a children's remote control truck pulling cord helps. If there is round conduit, then a wool ball with fishing line attached is on one side, and the hose of a hoover on the other to suck it through.
I'd been trying to work out how to do it for ages as I didn't want to drill any more holes but take it alongside the central heating pipes:)
*I've had a set of cabling rods for about 15 years, annoyingly I found a set cheap just after I'd finished running network cable around most of the house, although they've done well for additional cables and at friends houses.0
