Anyone else having problems with Recorded delivery parcels at the moment?
I sent a parcel 1st class recorded on Saturday and the Royal Mail tracking system still shows no information available. I've also got another parcel from Tuesday that says the same thing.
Another sent Wednesday arrived the next day though, so it seems intermittent.

Hello there,
I've been having the exact same problems online. I even tried a parcel sent and delivered some time ago to see what it said and the system came back with the same message as for the one sent just a few days ago.
So I would think it is the Royal Mail system that is down at the moment.Stuff Happens As Wave of Ambiguity Spreads:cool:0 -
I'm having trouble and waiting on a parcel from a reliable seller who has already posted it. 1 weeks has gone and nothing turned up. It turns out there has been a number of unofficial strikes at sorting offices up and down the country in relation to job cuts.
I have noticed a considerable drop in mail coming to our house this last couple of weeks. Might be worth trawling through the local paper by you online to see if this has happened. A number of these strikes were around the general elections to hamper the postal vote. They may still be trying to clear the backlog.:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:0 -
I had some recorded delivery stuff go missing!!!2p off is still 2p off!0

The only parcels of mine that have gone missing are those that I've sent Recorded Delivery. Ironic isn't it? To be fair, Royal Mail have always coughed up quite quickly but you still have to wait for 2 weeks before you can claim. The other problem is that they don't refund the original postage cost.Hopeless by name, hopeless by nature.0

I had a special delivery item delivered yesterday morning at 9am - due for delivery by 1pm. Brill you might think. I signed on the dotted line by the 1st line of my address in my sleepy state. Took the parcel in and looked for clues as to who it was for and from etc. Name on parcel was for someone who doesn't live in my house. Checked the address, which was all correct apart from post code. Rang Royal Mail to say it wasn't for me and explained. Tough I was told they had to delivered to the most correct address they had. If I wanted I could take it back to the delivery office (8 miles away) or to a local PO who may accept it. Else try leaving it for Postman to collect. Problem with this is its in a cardboard box so would get wet in the rain.
This isn't the first time I have had parcels delivered to my house, correct with the house no. and street name but wrong name. Most are just left by my letter box and not signed for. I ring PO and tell them but if they don't collect - then they are mine. Wonder what I will have this time.:D
There is a moral here though. Double check all of the address.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

You should remember recorded delivery is not a guaranteed service, it is just a service to show proof of delivery (i.e. a signature)."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

I rarely use RD but these were more expensive items and I wanted the signature on delivery.
I also agree with an earlier post that I actually lose more recorded delivery parcels than parcels sent regular mail.

I have had a few recorded deliveries to mine and i have to say not all had to be signed.
Dunno if you had read the postman post in disscusion forum, but i had trouble with my early morning postman that handles the signiture and other 1st class packages, My Postman keeps on knocking at my door, leaves package at my doorstep regardless to wait if i am in or not!
I am still trying to catch him out but cant cos by the time i have opened the door, he's done a runner!0 -
I recently sent an important letter and receipt by recorded delivery. It didn't arrive and needless to say all I received in compensation was 6 x 1st class stamps. All I want is my receipt back and you can't put a value on that. Royal Mail aren't in the slightest bit concerned about lost post.Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0

Just to add fuel to the fire, I received a first class recorded delivery package today 7 days after it had been posted, and it's not the first time an item sent that way has taken so long. A similar sized package sent 2nd class arrived after only 2 days, there's just no rhyme or reason to Royal Mail's delivery patterns!0
