I'd rather historic thanks counts were omitted. I think it encourages contributors to chase thanks and post for the benefit of their clique of thankers rather than the OP. This doesn't happen in this area but definitely does in others. I've seen something along the lines of "well don't take any notice of him, look at his thanks count". Counts for indiviual posts are fine.DairyQueen said:
Yes indeed and I really dislike the loss of the historic 'thanks' as that was always a good indicator of contributor expertise and helpfulness. I also note that the email alerts have changed format and can no longer identify the threads to which they relate at a single glance.Crabby said:Anyone else finding it odd, no dates on posts?
Anyone know what the label 'Forumite' means?

Same, not sure as I get older I find changes like this more difficult!!!crv1963 said:The new format is going to take me sometime to get used to.
The wind and rain got me up at 5 am, I'm supposed to be driving down to Yorkshire today, but am not sure I will, although there is not going to be much fun had trying to do the garden today! Had a good day out in Whitby yesterday with Mum and my youngest son, he's driving back to Hertfordshire this morning!
The wind and rain woke me up several times during the night. Don’t think I will be doing my weekly beach walk today. My eldest, age 27 is home this weekend, heard him stumbling in at 7am from a night out with friends. He was that drunk he couldn’t even lock front door. Sensible lad most of time, but drinks ridiculous amounts when out with friends. I never sleep well when he goes out

Aah. I'd forgotten about that. It would be usefulI think DQ means that you cannot see how many thanks a poster has received previously, not that she can't thank people.1 -

Already getting bad here. And my central heating went out late Thursday (happy birthday to me), guy came friday but no part til at least Monday. Happy days.Sea_Shell said:Well folks, I've made it back here. Spent most of yesterday getting my bearings (nothing else to do after my 6 mile run!) and I think I've got the hang of it!!
Not much else to report at the moment...ticking along...and making sure everything's nailed down for Sunday!!! It's going to blow!! Needless to say, I will be foregoing my Sunday morning run.
We are “stuck” on the IOW until tomorrow....which is great: I wouldn’t fancy a crossing in 80km/h winds😳
On the new format: I am NOT resistant to change.....
.....BUT 35+ pages of gripes on their “feedback thread”, removing useful features, turning to a marathon of scrolling due to expanded layout (feels like clickbait), inability to see how useful someone has been (thanks), blank screen on clicking notifications button, emails showing replies with weird html-like characters appearing....
....it is truly AWFUL!
I find myself wondering if anyone at MSE who actually uses the forums actually tested things before their headlong crash into update land occurred. Feels like a badly done Government IT project.
I feel sure my time spent here will be lowered in the future, so thanks to those who have been so helpful over the years, including many who have commented on this thread: you know who you are!
Maybe things will improve. Maybe it will capitalise my word after hitting carriage return and stop irritating me so much. Maybe 😂Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!4 -
Is it just me or does anyone else really like the new forum? The old one was, well, old and tired looking. I think this is much nicer; the only slight gripe for me is you can't preview a post by hovering over it.cfw1994 said:

I think this is going turn out to be a big problem on some parts of the forum. Unless someone (as in one of us) is going to be on here 24/7 how are we going to stop some of the (try to keep it reasonably polite - fit in personal insulting preference here) from completely misleading people, especially new posters who may already be feeling way out of their depths.atush said:
Get with the program. your thanks no longer show so no one knows if you are a numpty or not.

Hi there, it appears my thread seems to have turned into the Snagging thread!!!
Can we leave it there please.
Thankyou.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)2
