Out and about plans, come on get a move on.
Mrs C has been retired 2 weeks and we are already in the South of France (just been battered by storm Gloria but all is good). Barcelona in a couple of days.
No idea how the pensions are holding up, I'll review when we get back in April.Winner winner, Chicken dinner.0 -
Well folks, we hit a milestone this week!!
I've now been retired for 6 MONTHS!!!:j
Wow, that's passed so quickly, and no, I haven't missed being at work for one second.
It helps that the finances are holding up so far and like I said up thread, we're actually (on paper) better off now than we were when I finished!!
I've been able to run, swim, walk, read, jigsaw and read MSE to my hearts content. Not to mention a few more sneaky glasses of wine with lazy lunches!!:D
Can't wait for Spring, when we shall really hit GO with our out and about plans. We need to sort our National Trust Membership too.
One other thing, as an aside. I hope the MSE migration goes to plan, and that we'll all still be here afterwards, and we don't get lost in cyberspace!! Or that we decide that it's not user friendly enough for us anymore and quit the forum.
Fingers crossed i'll see you on the other side!!;)
To Infinity....and beyond!!!
I'm close behind you and will be at 6 months when Jan is finished. Work is increasingly becoming a distant bad memory, and finances are helped by DW still working at the moment. Got things to do getting house ready to go on the market in March as well as my writing hobby and enjoying a slower pace of life. Main problem at the moment is the weather which is mostly all or nothing (completely cloudy or completely sunny) and predomonantly cloudy and raining. It never ceases to amaze me just how dismal the British weather is on the whole.0 -
Glad you are enjoying your retirement sea shell.
I am celebrating 2 years retirement and cannot believe how fast the time goes by. This year is the big holidays after big home improvement projects last year and 2018 plus the birth of another grandchild in 2017.
We have not factored inheritances in as they are uncertain. My DHs parents are already deceased but my mum is thankfully alive and fairly wealthy but I will pass at least 50% of any inheritance on to my children should I get one.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Great to hear the retirements are going so well for you all. I've never been one to wish time away.... but I do wish time at work away. Another few years of full time cooperate employment still on the cards for me. Its good to learn a few lessons about how to prepare for life after the office!1

Hi Sea Shell, glad you're enjoying the sunshine. I'm having a quick break making the most of the warmth to tidy the garden a bit, still plugging away at planting my snowdrops in the green- only 600 more to go then I've planted 1100 snowdrops out of a total of 3300 bulbs this winter!
Roll on March/ April and May when they're all out following the snowdrops finishing!CRV1963- Light bulb moment Sept 15- Planning the great escape- aka retirement!4 -
Well folks, I've made it back here. Spent most of yesterday getting my bearings (nothing else to do after my 6 mile run!) and I think I've got the hang of it!!
Not much else to report at the moment...ticking along...and making sure everything's nailed down for Sunday!!! It's going to blow!! Needless to say, I will be foregoing my Sunday morning run.

I only just about made it back. I forgot I had used a new email address rather than my work one which I expect / hope I will lose in next year. Not quite with it on the new site, though could be cos I am on my iPad/
