I have a spreadsheet with a number of categories very similar to the above.
It takes me about 10 minutes per month to go through my current account and credit card to put every transaction into a category.
We already have a seperate account for household so that is very easy as it’s just £390 per month.

Mine (for me alone) is split into

    Essential £8491
Disretionary £14939 Including £3k car purchase, £4K travel
    Extravagant £4500

I’m sure this looks extravagant to some but just to show that planning and budgeting does not have to equal frugality (although I do money save and have free west end tickets for tonight).

    Doesnt look extravagant to me

A first for me today....a game of Backgammon!!

Never played it before, but will be a useful addition to our winter entertainment. DH has had his childhood set in the loft for decades, so we finally dusted it off.

Not much else to report. I'm nearly better (95%), with just a little cough and my hearing still not quite back to normal.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

That doesn't look extravagant to me either. Saying that, I've just noticed that you say that is for you alone. If your combined expenditure is about double that, I would say you are enjoying a very comfortable retirement if you can afford that, rather than extravagant.

Glad you are nearly better Sea Shell. The only good thing about being ill is you appreciate your good health when better.
Surprised I haven't caught anything this year yet, colleagues have been off ill with heavy cold and novovirus. Hoping I don't get anything just as I am about to start my two weeks Christmas break.
Did my Park Run yesterday, the sand was whirling that much on the beach couldn't even see the ground at some points. Crazy the weather we do it in, but always love it, (least ways when over I do.)
Been to gym to do weights and another jog on beach today. So looking forward to retiring and having the opportunity to do this most days, rather than stuck at a desk from 7am.
Sounds like you are living the lifestyle I aspire to.

If everybody washed their hands correctly there'd be a little less norovirus around.

I think getting everybody to wash their hands at all would be a big improvement. I'm always horrified by how many people don't in public loos.

I can remember going into the toilets at a pub/restaurant. One of the chefs came out of a cubicle and appeared to be leaving without washing his hands but changed his mind when he saw me. It's frightening if even chefs can't be arsed to wash their hands. It never ceases to amaze me how unhygenic many people are.

WE used to play that and cribbage back in the old days of no cable/internet. Not sure i remember how, but should start playing again.

We have never played backgammon though my husband loved playing cribbage and keeps threatening to teach me.
We normally play Canasta when on holiday when we have our youngest with us. A really good card game, though quite competitive especially when alcohol is involved. Actually even when it isn't come to think of it.
I know someone who plays Bridge and they even go on Bridge holidays with their group, wouldn't mind being involved in a group like that.

As a teenager I used to go to a Backgammon Club night in a local pub. That too can be a bit ruthless, along with Cribbage (great game, my great grandmother taught me when I was 8 or 9) and Canasta (played all night with a friend after a BBQ once - as you say, very competitive!) - Such great games. We used to buy a Board game every year. We still do a quiz or play what is known by a too-identifiable name for here as we are usually 10 or so people for Christmas
    Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
