I know what you mean.  I don’t fancy towing my home behind me, & hate the Ryanair ethos: Michael O’Leary always comes across as a hideous human who would happily charge you to use the toilet on his flights if he could.

I would chose a campervan but for the fact we feel too busy to make the most of it.  Maybe one day…but the ones I like are rather expensive.

    Each to their own 🤷‍♂️

We love the occasional festival - IOW (we don’t have to camp there) then Latitude coming up soon.  Good times 🏕️😎👍
We'll be at Bearded Theory this weekend in our little campervan. Much nicer for the old hips than tent camping - plus no lugging lots of gear from a far away car park. Having a fridge for cold milk on our breakfast starts the day well

Ryanair have always been good for us. They always have newish planes (but they are Boeings). They have a good safety record and they always seem to be punctual. You just need to follow their rules. I was reading recently about the horrors of flying with BA.
I find Ryanair to be fine too, unless there are delays, then you are on your own. By far the worst experience is at my nearest airport - stansted. You could be flying with the best airline, but the airport experience there is still highly unpleasant.

I see all the arguments for caravans, but you can't use all the free overnight aires in France, camping off grid is much more difficult and it is more of a pullava to move on. Different strokes and all that albeit the costs aren't low. As someone on another forum said about motorhoming,  its a very expensive way to have a cheap holiday.

Two of our pals are big fans of Bearded Theory, it's not far from here 👍

We find if we freeze a bunch of mini-cocktails, pop them in the coolbox with milk, it lasts a 4 day weekend.  Or until we have drunk them all, whichever comes first 🤪

Mind you, we have weaned ourselves onto green/white/jasmine tea after our 2 month Europe adventure - rarely drink white tea now....so I just have some oak milk for coffee & cereal (which is of course like having cereal on cereal 🤣)

Sorry Sea_shell, this has been an unwarranted diversion into campers, caravans & festivals!

I did meet a girl the other day who sold batteries in the park.   I guess she sells C-cells by the see-saw......

(edit to add “with milk”….we don’t just drink frozen cocktails.  Well, not for every breakfast 🤪)
    Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!

I was sat in my caravan the other day watching new arrivals coming onto the campsite. Mainly motorhomes towing small cars. It's utterly bonkers! It just doesn't make sense. What a waste of money.
Why bonkers?  Friends have this set up - they literally have a Swatch 2 seater in tow on the MH so can nip in around the surrounding area/ nearest high street/supermarket etc.

A lot of people buy a motorhome because they don't want to tow. So they pay a fortune for a motorhome. They then find it's rubbish because when they get to their destination they can't go anywhere. So then they end up towing a car instead. It's like a train pulling a train. You only need one engine and a carriage, not 2 engines. Our friends were going to use a 6 berth motorhome as a day to day car. That idea disappeared pretty quickly!

One could drive the motorhome and the partner could drive the car. Might use more fuel but cheaper than towing a car if anything was to go wrong. Assumes both can drive ofbcourse.

Do you think the motorhome chatter distracted people from the main theme of this thread?

Is there a theme? I thought it was more of a blog with chat.
