As far as value for money goes...I'm getting my monies worth out of my £20pm gym membership.

This payment month (20th to 19th), I've used the gym or pool 12 times.    That works out at just £1.67 a visit.

Even if I didn't go again for the rest of the 12 months since joining, it would still only have cost me £7.27 a visit.

    Bargain!! o:)
Is your gym within walking distance or do you have to drive there?

    I'm not falling for that...😉

Just so you can tell me it's not the bargain I think it is.

    Me? Never lol!

....must be at least 20 miles then.  :D

    That is cheap.
Normally £20pmonth would only get you one of those gym only places like PureGym.

I pay £34 a month just to go swimming in a publicly owned pool. Although it is a big new one. I only go enough times just to approx break even. However it is much more convenient being a member, than having to pay each time and it probably makes me go more often as I have already paid for it !
  • £20 is quite cheap so it sounds like you are getting value for money.  My country club membership is more than twice that price and that is off peak but it has a lovely pool and spa which I use at least once a week, classes which I  do twice a week and a really well equipped gym and 20% off all food and drink and we often take our family there for softplay for the grandkids and lunch out. We are there usually three or four times a week. It costs approx £10 a week so I guess that means each visit costs around £2.50-£3.00 each.

This is exactly the sort of thing I look forward to doing in retirement - without the grandkids for some time hopefully - but I know it will be a lot more than £10 a week round here.

    Just made me check mine.
Mine is £52 per month, expensive I know but part of a hotel/spa complex so does feel like a treat, especially after I have been gym, had a sauna and lying on the sunbeds round the pool :D
Now I have retired getting there at least 4 times per week so costing me £3 per visit.
Not bad when I can quite easily spend 2 hours there, plus saves me having heating on for that 2 hours and I shower there. 5 minute drive so not much on petrol, would walk but down a road with no pavement.

Sounds similar to mine.  It is part of a hotel complex.  I also get discounts on accommodation for people coming down to stay which they do periodically as we live in a popular tourist area. Saves us putting them up each time. :)

Mine doesn't have any bells and whistles, but I go there to sweat or swim...not chill out 😉

Sometimes I have the 25m pool almost to myself, which is my idea of bliss.

My gym membership is £224 a year so about £4.50 a week ,i normally go 3 times a week so about £1.50 a go ,really good gym ,large swimming pool plus steam room and sauna followed by a hot shower ,better than using my gas.

Note to self:-    When making a debit card payment, and you get a message saying "oops something went wrong", check that it didn't actually go through before trying again!!!! :s

I now (apparently) have to wait for YBS to issue a cheque, for an "overpayment" to a Regular Saver account.   OK, it's only £150, but still a tad annoying.

I'd hoped that as they were showing in "pending" that one would fail and one would clear, but they've both now cleared.

Partially my own fault, as I should have checked my bank's app, before trying again.    I'll set them up as a payee for next month, should have done that from the start.
