I went mad in the wine isle at M&S today, but only because it was a 25% off sale lol.
Oh, and i just booked a cruise for my birthday. So maybe i am now officially old (although the last time i cruised i was in my early 40's with my kids who were still youngish).
OH is still on full hours and pay, and going to 4 days a week in Oct. So was thinking i may not be able to afford it when he is retired. We'll see.0 -

Not an option- members only. It's a posh private place with spa, tapas by the pool and lovely restaurant. At least we get discount if we eat thereI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

I cut down drinking significantly this year when I realised my "habit" (two bottles of wine a week and a beer most days) meant I was drinking more than 80% of most people (per an online test). That an a bout of Esophagitis meant things had to change.
I've now cut out wine completely (I never drank spirits) but console myself with one beer a day.Money won't buy you happiness....but I have never been in a situation where more money made things worse!0 -
I stick to port now after doing a port manufacturing premises tour/tasting on a recent holiday to Porto in Portugal. Only 1 - 2 glasses a week so a bottle tends to last me 3 weeks and sometimes I won't bother opening another for 2 -3 weeks after I've finished the last one.
On the rare occasions we have a BBQ I'll probably have 2-3 bottles of lager but with UK weather thats about 3 times a year
I've got a bottle of Sandemans Special Reserve from 1978 from my dad that I can't screw up enough courage to open - I'd be so disappointed if it had turned to vinegar..........0 -

Most people lie about how much they drink so as long as you as you didn't, you probably compared well with most people
I cut alcohol out completely a couple of years ago. A target of zero is easier to track than whatever the latest unit limit is. It's cheaper too; even an OK bottle of wine per day between 2 - I know lots of people who do this or similar - soon adds up. I can now be found hanging around the fruit tea aisles in the supermarket:D.0 -
We just realised that this is the first month we've not had a PAYDAY between us...EVER!!!
No little message from Santander saying "you have a credit to your account".
Although this month we did have interest payments of £105 and Cashback/Vouchers of £64...so grand income this month of £169.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

I'd give up beer before wine lol.
I have now found 2 low/no alc drinks that are actually drinkable. No Alc gin and tonics (both tesco and gordons) and one no alc white wine All the red wines (my normal tipple) are very poor. I make a sangria substitute with cold brewed tea and pomegranate juice.0 -

I like beer and wine.
The Adrian Chiles documentary - 'Drinkers like Me' resonated with me although I don't drink anything like the amount he did. An ex-workmate featured in that documentary and he clearly has an unhealthy relationship with alcohol.
Some of my friends and neighbours have a drink problem.
I enjoyed a single pint on the way home from work or walking the dog. More at weekends and a lot more at social events.
Being now in retirement won't change that. :beer:Mr Straw described whiplash as "not so much an injury, more a profitable invention of the human imagination—undiagnosable except by third-rate doctors in the pay of the claims management companies or personal injury lawyers"0 -
Oh dear, today we visited an English vineyard - we were using up an experience day voucher we were given a couple of years ago and was in danger of expiring again (we'd already paid to extend it) - and we visited the nearest place to home to use the voucher up. So 7 bottles of wine have come home with us, and it wasn't Waitrose discount prices......... hey ho, a tick in the support local business box.Make £2025 in 2025
