They'd still obviously inherit everything less IHT, not just the bit over the NRB.
So for them, surely 60% of something is better than 100% of nothing, even if the taxman does get his pound of flesh!I think....0 -

It's all a balancing act.
DC pensions v ISA v Personal Allowance v IHT v DB pension v State pension v flexibility.
Tax now, tax later, no tax, some tax?

I normally drive and my wife gives the directions. She normally finds free parking. Sometimes it takes a couple of hours to find and we have to walk a few miles but it's always free. Is this part of the money SPENDING plan Sea Shell?1

I know what you mean about parking, when it's a flat day charge and you only want and hour or so, it can be very frustrating.
It wasn't too bad to be fair, and we do like to be able to park pretty centrally, unless we've used a park and ride of course. Then you need to make sure you've taken everything with you as you can't just "pop back to the car"!

A couple of hours to find and you have to walk a few miles! I hope you start early in the morning, otherwise you're not going to have much time to do anything when you finally arrive at your destination.

The weather wasn't quite warm enough for us to sit and eat out (other than our F&C out the wrapper on the sea front), so we'd taken a couple of meals worth of "eat in" with us. Didn't use the emergency Pasta and Sauce though...we went to a Waitrose and raided the yummy isle instead!! We did take some other snacks with us from home.
To be fair, it wasn't really going to be a "doing" holiday this time, more of a chill out, change of scenery, fresh air and walking trip. I'd rather wait until masks are no longer a thing, before going "in" places.
In other news, the month end figures continue at a pace...
DC Pensions - £359,330
S&S ISAs - £189,483
Locked Cash - £59,668
Ready Cash - £7,475
12 month to date spends - £12,424
My island has no covid spreading at the moment, but i still wore a mask at tesco friday. The OH didnt, but he's a bit stubborn. But i used to wipe down airline seats and grocery trolleys before the pandemic. i'm an epidemiologist.4 -

Well they won't get our passing trade then.
Anyway, I don't want to turn this into a Covid rant thread, so let's just park that now. Thanks. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0
