..yes seems odd that in the early days of vaccinations shares were showing a steady increase, but now more people have been jabbed and post lockdown plans have been planned they have started going down again?....perhaps a function if the pound strengthening?

I'm also wondering what the Budget will bring this week, and if it will have any bearing on our personal circumstances.
I think it would have to be something pretty radical to have a direct impact, like taking away the availability of the 25% TFLS or tax relief on pension contributions.
I suppose we're more likely to be affected by the market reactions to the Budget, rather than the direct implications of what's in it.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

I have been reading that some Tory MPs are very much against any tax rises for any reasons! It is more than likely it would be a matter of tinkering around with no real radical changes with no objective measures to raise taxes.
It would not long until we will find out if there are any changes this week! I am sure I am going hit by any tax changes heavily as a single childless employee.

Well personally the Budget was a bit of a non-event.
Yes, we will lose out, in time, of having no increase to the PA for a few years, but we hadn't factored the indexing of the PA into our figures anyway. Nowhere near hitting LTA, or having any unwrapped investments yet, so frozen allowances are not an issue.
No increases in Fuel and Alcohol duty will have minimal impact, as we're not big drinkers or heavy mileage drivers.
As I suspected, we will be mainly effected by the "markets" as a whole on our portfolio, rather than anything "direct".How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)3 -
We've just ordered 2 new leather recliner chairs for the conservatory. £500 each.
They're to replace our current ones, which are now 12 years old and starting to show their age, but we've definitely had our moneys worth.
We spend a lot of time in the conservatory, so the "cost per hour sat" is very good value!!!
We're also hoping to get a couple of short breaks booked up for end of April, mid May. Just UK, but we're so looking forward to a change of scenery. That way, we've hopefully given enough leeway on the "roadmap" date, with also the chance of squeezing in another one early doors once the 12th April is confirmed, depending on the weather forecast and availability. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
That's a very worrying post. Sitting is seriously dangerous to health.1

It's all in balance though!!
I have two modes, hare or sloth.
Run in the morning, fall asleep in a chair, usually after wine, in the afternoon (if the conditions are just right)
Although I'm hoping to add a third mode of "fish" once the pools reopen!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)4 -
I am definitely missing access to a pool. Roll on 12th April.
We are spending a week in the Lakes in June (hopefully) - single household in self catered cottage so things would have to go badly downhill for that to not be allowed.
This year spending is mostly going to be home and garden improvement - a chap came last night to quote for decorating the hall/stairs/landing and that will be followed by new carpet. A new greenhouse is spec'ed up for Autumn installation and I am finalising a design for a metal pergola to replace the arch which has rotted and is being held up by bricks and a metal brace!I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."2 -
Morning all. Financial stuff aside for a moment...
I've looked at my clocked runs for the year so far, and my trusty Garmin tells me that I've done 171.7 miles, in 31h:46m:05s, and burned 19045 calories!!!
That's a lot more mileage than our car's done so far in 2021.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)6
