What monster have I created?!?! 😲😲😲
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

    First quarter figures are in....

    Our pots now stand at:
    Pensions - £349,012
    ISAs - £180,303
Locked cash - £59,560 (matures in Sept)
Ready cash (net) - £9,020. (£12,000 total moved into ISA)

Compared to the end of 2020, we are up £236, but have spent £2,700.  So effectively up £2,936.   All pretty flat.

12 months to end March 21, we're up £91,860, with spends of £11,710, so growth of £103,570, or 20%  (but from the "low" point of last March of course - so skewed a lot)

You may have done OK last year but it looks a bit tight for retirement. Do you have any DB benefits kicking in at some point which may change the balance of the equation?

A broadly valid question.....but having been ‘in’ on this lengthy journey from the outset:  Sea_Shell is, I believe, up on the page 1 number from a couple of years ago (started pre-Covid)....so I suspect it is safe to say their funds will happily sustain their lifestyle!

    Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!

Yes, DH has 2 DB pensions that kick in in 10 years time, which are currently worth be £8,500 in todays money, but they'll also be indexed between now and then (estimated to be c.£11,000 by then).  He'll also have SP in 12 years, and I'll have SP in 18 years.

I don't know how much of the thread you've read, but we believe we need £15,000 pa for regular spending and so were basing our numbers on having a pot of £500,000 which needs to return 3% net of inflation to achieve that.

    Thanks cfw1994.    We cross-posted there.

Yep, when I started this thread in June 19, we had a pot of £536k.

Over those last 22 months, we've spent £21,000.

We now have a pot of £598k.

So a pot of anything more than £515k at this point is a bonus!!!

Whether it's tight or not, it's probably a lot better off than 80 or 90% of the population.
