Good to enjoy yourself. Make the most of the summer at least retired you can have the ice cream/ tea/ lemonade/ cold beer when you want and not wait until when you have finished work!CRV1963- Light bulb moment Sept 15- Planning the great escape- aka retirement!0

Well, the good:
Weather's been nice, albeit a tad too hot, especially yesterday, so have been just chilling out, mainly with a wet tea-towel over my head!!
Been swimming, and did my usual mile.:A
Got my last pay.:j
We've treated this week as "holiday" so eaten and drank lots of yummy things.
The not so good:
They've miscalculated my final pay, so have had to e-mail them about it.
I've hurt my knee doing deep squats, so no running for a while.:(
What a nuisance, both the pay trouble and the injury. But still, congrats on getting there.0 -
Work have agreed my figures and will sort out paying me the extra
My knee's feeling much better today. Just been for a 2 mile walk (as it finally stopped raining!!), no probs, so hopefully can get out for a shuffle round the block tomorrow.:THow's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
My weekly update looks a bit like this…
- Have been for 3 runs, total of 16.1 miles. Knee feels much better.
- Usual swim (1 mile, 50 mins, freestyle)
- Ordered and received DH’s new mobile phone, as he’s had my hand-me-downs up until now. We’ve both now got Moto G5’s (bought with Amazon/Santander vouchers – free money!!)
- Have bought and started taking (day 3) Turmeric supplements, as I’ve read positive stuff about its benefits – only £9.99 from Amazon, so worth a punt.
- Walked to the library and, in additional to our usual bedtime fiction, I’ve picked up some non-fiction too. Mainly sciencey stuff, to keep the old grey matter working.
- The month end finances seem to be benefiting from the so called “Boris Bounce”, but I realise that this is mostly due to fluctuations in the pound, is just “on paper” and could quite easily be down next month by the same amount (£14k!!). Currently at a total of £550k!! – Not counting those chickens!!
- Alcohol free week, not on purpose, just not been quite nice enough weather for beers or Prosecco!
- £31.50 cashback payable from two AA savings accounts opened (thanks MSE)
- Lifestyle change – eating our main meal at lunchtime, rather than evenings.
- I’ve been rumbled by a neighbour!
- Realised I’ve not worn makeup or used any hair styling products since I finished, as we haven’t been anywhere that’s warranted it yet – popping to Aldi doesn’t count!!!
Sorry, I realise that all this stuff is a bit random…but hey, it’s my thread!!;);)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -

Is that freestlye as in mixture of strokes or front crawl?
Sorry, yes, front crawl. Goggles, nose clip, proper breathing, the works.
I'm not one of the "never get your hair wet" ladies.:pHow's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Sea Shell, that sounds great! For the turmeric, can I suggest bulk buying the herb at an Asian supermarket? The link here is to the turmeric selection of the online supermarket run by my local. I'm lucky, I'm near a town with a big Asian community and *very* good restaurants: https://www.somayaskitchen.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=turmeric
1kg of turmeric powder is £3.29 on that list!
I like the lifestyle change of when you eat your main meal2023: the year I get to buy a car0
